Fort Steele Resort & RV Park

We are planning our trip to B.C. this summer and we are reading mixed reviews on Fort Steele Resort & RV Park. Has anyone stayed at this park? or is there another RV park in the area that you would recommend?

Fort Steele Resort & RV Park

Don't stay there......check out the Fort Steele campground instead. Far better place to stay!!!!! Completely different campground, WAY better facilities and staff.......

Thanks for the info. I notice they only have 15 amp service, I am sure I would need 20 amp to run the air and other appliances.

You should be able to run your lights and most of your appliances with the exception of the A/C.....

I've had my 50 amp trailer connected to 15 and was able watch a DVD on the TV with all the lights, fridge and propane furnace on at the same time without issue.

If you don't need electric, Wasa Lake Provincial Park is a 15-30 minute drive North of Fort Steel, and you can go for a swim in the lake after a hot day at the Fort. discovercamping.ca. You can make reservations at Wasa. This is where I've stayed since I was a kid, and now I take grand kids. It's usually hot in the summer, but well treed and so it cools down in the evening.

The campground at the Esso Station is called Fort Steel RV Park. https://www.fortsteele.com. It is right across the road from the entrance to Fort Steel. Haven't stayed there, but would if I liked hook-ups.

Another great choice is Kimberly Riverside Campground. It has a pool and is next to the river. The folks that run it are very nice. Has lots of trees. Kimberley Riverside Campground
Fort Steele is pet friendly, except in areas where food is served. My pup loved the air conditioning in some of the buildings. Bring lots of water, and a cooler for your lunch. You can come and go from the park all day. Have a great visit there.

I would recommend Riverside CG in Kimberley. I stayed there twice last year and found it to be a good location. Don't bother with the river view sites. They are river view but what we didn't know until we got there is that they are at the top of an 80'+ cliff with an almost sheer drop. Not good if you have kids or pets (we don't). The meadow view sites are on the same road as the river view site. Wi-Fi is only available at hot spots. The bathrooms are clean but we use our onboard shower facilities. I can't comment on the pool, etc. as we didn't use them. Deer roam through the cg which is very peaceful. The sites are varied in size but appeared pretty level. We managed to get a 40' 5er in. Good 50/30 amp power, water and sewer. Not much shopping in Kimberley so bring groceries with you.

Thanks everyone, we are now booked into Kimberley Riverside Campground mid July for a week. Richard & Diane your pictures look great, just the kind of place we are looking for.
