Grundy Lake Prov. Park

Just got back from Grundy for the first time in about 15 yrs. The basic park hasn't really changed other than a new office building but one noticeable change was the addition of several very large pull through sites in Poplar campground and also many more electric sites than we remembered. The pull throughs were from the combination of back to back sites so there were some sites lost but it is great for some of todays extra large rigs. Weatherwise it was typical of the area for this time of year (cold and rainy). Leaf colour about 35-40% changed (mostly yellow from the aspen and birch as there are not that many maples to get the reds). Got canoeing for the first time in a long time and boy did that feel good. I'm kind of surprised my old fiberglass canoe still held up, so I always had a life jacket with me (guess it should have been on my back). All in all a good five days and my grandsons first trip to Grundy. I will try to attach a couple of pictures. We did enjoy a couple of wild swan friends one evening.

Grundy is on my to do list for next year. Not sure when I'll go. I had tried to book a site in July, but I had left it too late for any hydro sites. I guess we could've done some dry camping.

Were there many other campers there? My brother camped there a few years ago w/ his 5er & they enjoyed the park.

No it was pretty quiet there and only three c g's were open. I expected more but it was pretty cool and rainy last week so that may have affected things. It really is a great canoe park if you like to paddle. You need to check out their site as the girl on the gate told me they don't take reservations this time of year, just first come basis. Old Guys
