Niagara Falls Canada camping

Looking to visit Niagara Falls first of August, thought it would be nice to camp on the Canadian side. Looking for suggestions on campgrounds. I saw where FROG had an outing at Bissell's Hideaway. Is this the best or is there another that is better? Thanks in advance!

Depending if you have kids or not, the yogi jellystone park in Niagara Falls is a really good park, opt for the premium sites as they are a lot larger. There are a lot of activities for the kids to participate. There is also a KOA on lundys lane and a park named Scott's on lundy's lane. Both are very clean. Enjoy your trip.

Our girls were 2 and 4 and they loved it, the 2 year old still talks about going to see yogi and boo boo! They have lots of activities to participate in. Big playground. Also it's close to the falls but out of the way from the busy areas. I think you would be very happy at the park.

Bluflame11, have a look at this thread, too, for some comments on attractions in the area.
Camping near or at Niagara Falls

If you're going to be there around the first of August, be aware that it's a long weekend on the weekend of Monday, August 4th so it will be busy and the campgrounds may have a rowdier crowd then.

Bissell's Hideaway is a popular resort-style campground as is Shekston Shores which is about 30-40 minutes from Niagara Falls, ON. I haven't been to Jellystone but they tend to be geared to younger children. The Niagara Falls KOA gets good reviews.

We were at Jellystone last 4th of July. nice place with a shuttle to and from the Falls. the KOA and the other campground next door on Lundy`s lane is also supposed to be pretty nice and you can catch the bus to the Falls from the front of the campground!

We'll be at the KOA in June. We made the choice on the KOA over the Jellystone based on:

a) having a KOA card (10% discount)
b) satellite images looks like a bigger park
c) My own interpretation of the amenities as listed on each of their respective websites and their fit to our families (2 families going)

If you're planning on Marineland another option to consider is King Waldorf's Tent and Trailer. Pretty much no amenities but it's an agreeable price when you add in the Marineland discount. And as it's just south of the main city based on satellite images so you might get a better 'closer to nature' feel to from there than from the other two.

Note: I haven't actually stayed at any yet so I can't provide any first hand experience. I will update on our experience with the KOA after our trip in June.

PS. As was mentioned above, the first weekend in August is a long weekend for us (Civic holiday) so you will encounter a higher than average population (and possibly rate) than a different weekend.

We had a group FROG Rally at the Falls and stayed at Bissell's Hideaway Resort in Ontario Canada.
It is a few miles from the Falls but had a great lake and lots of things for the kids to do.
Here is the site map and website.
Bissell's Hideaway Resort - Home

It's a little pricey but worth it on what they have for the kids.
