Nova Scotia August 2014.

We are former tent campers (+20 years) and only had our TT one season. We are looking forward to exploring Nova Scotia for the first time in August 2014. We'll have our motorcycle, kayaks and mountain bikes with us and plan about two weeks for the trip from New England. Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

We went this past (2013) summer and can recommend two campgrounds. These are right on the water the first is Old Shipyard Beach Campground. Old Shipyard Beach Campground
Right on Bay of Fundy.

The other is King Neptune Campground. Close to Peggy's Cove Lighthouse. Again, you can get a site right on the water and watch beautiful sunsets. Full hookup. We never used the bath house so can not comment but loved our site.

There is obviously a lot more to see in NS but these are the two places we stayed. I'm sure others can add to this. It is beautiful no matter where you go.

A trip around the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island is an absolute must if you're going to Nova Scotia. Truly spectacular views and nice hiking. We also really enjoyed the Fortress of Louisbourg. We stayed at the North Sydney KOA as a base on Cape Breton. You could also stay at a campground in the Baddeck area.

We spent 3 days in the Halifax area, too. From the Halifax West KOA, we toured to Peggy's Cove and Lunenburg which are quaint, picturesque little towns with lots of history.

Try to make time to go to Hopewell Rocks on the New Brunswick shore of the Bay of Fundy where you'll see the highest tides in the world. The tides rise and fall by as much as 40+ feet.
