We had a bad experience at Mara and were disappointed with the park in general. We were in lower campground and there had been a lot of rain. Our site was mostly clay so did not drain well. When it was time to leave the tires just spun like we were on ice. Had to do the shifting from reverse to forward to get out, mud flying everywhere. After a half hour of working the tranny we got out onto the road. This was in our 31 foot Holiday Rambler motor home, just imagine it. Was almost to the point that I was going to hook it up to my jeep and try to pull it out. Anyway Mara is our least favourite and won't go back. As far as the other two you mentioned I can't say as we have not stayed there.

I know all parks have some drive up spots. A phone call to the gate house might reveal a list of spots Being a late to get a spot might get a less desirable one.

McRae Point gets good reviews but it doesn't look like there are any sites with privacy. Bass Lake may give you more private sites. I haven't been to either though so I can't offer any first hand experience.

We are at Inverhuron for the weekend. First impressions is very positive. There are a variety of sites. The newer sites are large but limited on privacy. The more established sections are more private but smaller sites. Even the non reservable sites are decent in quality size and privacy.

There are 3 water filling stations and four dump sites. Very good design and well thought out.

Definitely a 4.8 out of 5.

We went to check out MacGregor PP and the sites are small. However it did have one thing that we hadnt seen before. There were several double sites where two families could rent a site and reside together. The park store and the beaches were ok. IMO we wont be staying there any time soon.

We're booked into Mew Lake CG in Algonquin for the last week of Sept. It's been around 15 years (and 2 trailers) since we've been to Algonquin so it's time to go back. Hopefully the Fall colours will be out.

We'll try to make time to check out Mikisew and Lake St. Peter PPs sometime during the week.

We're staying at sibbald point this weekend. I must say I'm very impressed with the park. This is also our first weekend without hydro, I purchased 2 6 volt batteries and so far so good. The sites are huge, biggest I've seen in a long time. I'm wondering if the sites are bigger because of the no power. What's everyone's experience with that. If that's the case I see solar panels in the future

Hi Mike,

We looked there as well. Our 32 ft would be a tough fit. Inverhuron for us as well.

They are great. We camped there last summer when they opened Holmes Bay. That is our go to park. We really like it.
