There are lots of fuel stops on this route: Shell/Bancroft, Maynooth, Hwy 127 and Whitney. You'll be lucky if see 10 vehicles on 127.
You could kill two birds with one stone by taking 115/28/127. You could tour Lake St. Peter, it's only 2 kilometers off 127 and will take you 10 minutes to tour it.

Thanks, Dave. Were the roads good along 28, 62 and 127?

Yes, 28, 62 and 127 were all great. The only delay, which was slight is Hwy. 60 in Whitney. They're doing some construction at a bridge and down to one lane......wasn't even a 5 minute delay.

Thanks. We may just take 35 one way and 28/62/127 the other if they are both in good condition.

You may want to come home 127/62/28 as the only dump station (other than Rock Lake) is on Hwy 60 east of Pog campground.

You can bike along the shoreline from ene to end, go the other direction and there is a lane going to a lighthouse and interperative centre. This loop goes on for 5-7 km around the point, and gives access to walking trails.
Bonus for Presquille this season as they rebuilt there dumpstation. Now a dual dump area and dual potable water filling stations, widened the area and seems they took some of the grade off.
I fully recommend "Dougalls" restraunt in Brighton for a night out, the crispy salmon bites are to die for.
There is two beaches but most of the time we swim right off of our campsite, there is flat rock there, need water shoes or something but for a quick deep its the place to be.

I've heard that Dougalls restaurant is closing

Hmmm. We haven't been to Algonquin since we had our old 1999 Coleman Santa Fe popup. In those days we just used 5 gal. containers for water as needed. I didn't realize they don't have a dump station at each campground. Thanks for the heads up!
Where can you fill your FW tank?

We are camping overnight at Darlington Thursday. Going through the GTA against rush hour for half the trip and likely hit east side 8 pm. Then on to Kingston Friday morning.

I was thinking we'd take the blue portable waste tank to empty the grey tank mid-week but I don't think I want to tow it 5 km down Hwy. 60. We better conserve water!

Brian at 8pm going through Ajax,Whitby should not be a problem, you MAY ?get a little slow down at the new 412/407 cut off and there is construction at the Courtice road area , but like I said at 8 you should be ok.

We were booked to camp at Presqu'ile Provincial Park this past weekend but saw a lot of pictures on the internet showing flooding so we called their park office on Friday morning. They confirmed that half their campsites were under water. So we cancelled (they gave us a full refund) and booked at the nearby Brighton KOA. I heard that Sandbanks is flooded, too.

This was the first year in 4 years that we didn't go to Prequille. We tried Bass Lake in Orillia.......nice park for sure and only 1 hour 20 minutes from home.

We were at Inverhuron PP last week, it was wet and Lake Huron is high too.
The weekend we were at Blylth Campground for a music weekend. The park was swamped, a few big MoHo's were up yo their axles. Some guy in a fifth wheel towed by a 2 wheel drive truck tried to gun it to make it up a 15% incline, smashed into a motorhome after "gunning it" and went sideways.
It is wet everywhere. Be cautious at the open field camping venues.

We spent 10 days in the Pinery in site 691. No hydro but we are set up for dry camping anyway. Nice secluded spot but on a main road in the park. Still ok for us. It rained on a couple of days but overall was a very enjoyable stay. It was very busy over the 2-4 weekend. My grandson was bitten by a tick as well as my wife, who had 2 of the wee buggers bite her and she didn't go running around in the bush. We have the last one doing the backstroke in an alcohol bath, just in case something develops.

We've been to Brighton KOA several times. We've started going there for the first and last weekends of the season to take advantage of a FHU site for flushing since we have to store our TT at my cousin's farm.
It's a fairly typical KOA. Nicely maintained, heated pool, activities for the young ones, wagon rides, and friendly staff. They have some trails for walking. There are some seasonal spots but they are in a separate area so you don't feel like you're intruding like we did at the Gravenhurst KOA. Water pressure is a bit low though. Rates are less than many other KOAs in Ontario.
We were camping with my step-sister and her husband last weekend. (They have a Sunset Trail TT.) Unfortunately they had a bearing blowout on the 401 just before the exit at Brighton (coming from the east) so they pulled over just off the highway. We got there about 10 minutes after they parked it. The KOA staff came down to help out which was really appreciated. We finally got a mobile tech from a service shop in Belleville to come out and he was able to replace the bearing so we could limp it over to the KOA about a mile away. They need a new axle. The KOA owners let them stay on their site for the week for $20 and the mobile tech was going to come back and replace the axle during the week.
If you prefer a Provincial Park and Presqu'ile is booked up, there's Ferris PP just up the road, south of Campbellford.

Bugs are going to be awful. That reminds me, Must bring more beer.
Any reccomnedations for Ottawa (West side) camping other than the PP (who's name escapes me at this second)?

I would agree at Arrowhead. I take a big box fan and blow them away!! Also carry a Bug Incinerator we used at Bon Echo, tripped the breaker once!
Wesley Clover Camp is nice. Been there a couple time. OC Transpo close by too!

Please enlighten me on this "bug incinerator"? Sounds like something I might need.
