I am looking forward to exploring more PP parks. We should keep this thread going as a place for reviews of PP in ontario.

When I'm booking a site at a provincial park, I use both the pictures on their reservation site and this website: Ontario Parks Campsite Pictures but you'll have to pay a CDN$5 fee to access the pictures. It's well worth it for me because trying to get a 32' TT into a PP site can be a challenge. Looking at both sources gives you a better idea of the slope and possible obstructions when trying to back into the site.

I've found the pictures on the PP reservation site can be a bit misleading when it comes to the slope of the site and rarely offer a view of the site driveway from the road.

What I would really like is the Ontario parks to let Google go through. They have done this at national parks and it is great for seeing angles for getting in.

It's a privately operated site, not part of the PP website. It used to be free but now they charge a nominal fee. Their pictures tend to be taken in the Fall with different angles than you get on the PP reservations site. And there are more pictures. Here's a couple pics of your site 534 at The Pinery.

We love Awenda, it is on top of our list of favourites. Yes B & B the big rocks do cause a problem, took out an awing arm trying to avoid one. We still love going there, usually only go on long weekends, have friends that seasonal at the Lafontaine campground up the road. We always hook up for lunch at Severn Falls, Big Chute or Victoria Harbour and have a good time. Wife has taken lots of great pix in the park, including a new born fawn.

We stayed at Bronte Creek for the first time earlier this year, google maps has mapped the campground so you can see all the sites. Would be nice if they did all the Ontario PP, so far we have been lucky i guess and really haven't picked a really bad one yet.

Off to Rondeau this weekend, love going there too, great trails, beach is nice, also great park to bike in, it is completely flat, that is my kind of bike riding! Always take Hwy 3 or Talbot Trail from Talbotville instead of the 401. Lately though have been pulling off at Iona Road and going up to the Bear Creek Gas bar where price of regular was at 84.9 today and usually is 10 to 15 cents cheaper.

Duncan, we love Rondeau as well. Early season or fall camp for us. The roads are great for biking and we do have a good bit of nature seeing many dear and red fox on our trips. Summer gets a bit busy there with all the cottages and all the friends at the cottages. Only time in my entire camping time since 1969 we had something stolen from our site . The Park Warden knew the perps and went straight to them with the OPP.

Ya we don't usually go to Rondeau, Pinery or MacGregor in July or August, too crowded. DW was off her game this year booking sites, so we are at Rondeau this weekend and the August long weekend. Family reunion out near Maryhill the weekend in between. We were at Burwell last weekend and got hit by a heavy thunderstorm, an overhead branch came down on to the roof, no damage thankfully. Can be scary sometimes in heavy storms.

Last weekend at Pinery. We had a flood through the site. No wind at all. Just rain.

Because we only bought our trailer in May we really are having a hard time finding a decent PP for the weekends.

What area were you in Dunes? How quick did it drain off?

Yes we have been through that ourselves. Camped at a few conservation campgrounds. Then we lucked out and got into Point Farms and managed to find PP spots for rest of our first year.
Keep checking for sites some cancellations happen and then if grab them quick you can get in.

Killarney is definitely on my bucket list but not sure it is worth the drive for one or two days. Sounds like a place to spend a week.

Yeah, I agree. I've been to both. Awenda is 2-3 day weekend trip for us. you want a week at Killarney.......and well worth it.

Very few, if any, sites big enough to accommodate our TT and no electric sites. As beautiful as it may be, it's not a park we'll be staying at.

Really depends whar you're looking for. When i got to scenic places, with taking pics of scenery, going on awesome trails, canoeing, swimmng in the lake etc on my mind - hydro is not on my must list.

Oh, I'd visit Killarney. We just wouldn't park the TT there. Based on the pictures on the reservation site it doesn't look like the sites are big enough even if we were willing to camp without electricity. We've been known to stay at a KOA and do day trips to the nearby provincial park. Gives us the best of both worlds.

There is a private campground in the town of killarney. As soon as you pass a sign that reads "Killarney" make a first right. Its called Roche Rouge. I have been there every year since 1990. It is owned by a family, third generation now i think. Very nice people. it is on waterfront, water only. There is outhouses there, but i use my trailers washroom. You are allowed to run small quiet generators.
Not too many people know about this place.

We were in Riverside 1. Drained pretty quickly.
