Recommendations for Rockwood Dealers in Ontario

Not sure where I should post this but I'm looking for recommendations on Rockwood dealers here in Ontario for a new or used trailer. With the current exchange rate on the Canadian dollar, there's no advantage going to the U.S. to buy a new unit anymore.

I live 1/2 hour east of Toronto. Closest Rockwood dealer is Mackenzie's in Gormley. I'm looking at new trailers at Terry's Trailer Service in Springmount (near Owen Sound) and Sauders in St. Jacobs.

Can anyone offer an opinion on any of these dealers or recommend another Rockwood dealer in Ontario?

I'd also consider Flagstaff models but there are fewer choices there. 1000 Islands RV in Gananoque and Gimme Shelter in Mono.

I just bought my TT from Leisure Days in Pembroke. Got a great deal. There is also a dealer in Ottawa. Can't remember the name.

Travel-Mor in Ottawa. Purchased mine in 2011 and been happy with it. So far I have not used their maintenance services as I do all the work myself, but also did have any warranty items to get fix by them.

Sauders is my choice. Family run, honest and good service. They have the Rockwood display at Toronto RV Shows, show the most product. Not to mention some really great food available (mennonite) close by.

It is a little on the far side for you...but
Endless Road RV'S in Ingleside close to Cornwall.
I bought 3 trailers from them, very easy to work with, great prices and their service is excellent.
I am 1 hour drive from them...last year, they came home pick up my unit for service, kept it plugged in at their shop because my fridge was full and drive it back home 2 days later after work was done.
Can't ask any better !
They are small though...no bling-bling like 1000 Island or Travel-Mor...even their web site sucks...but service is excellent and I would highly recommend them.

I bought my new Rockwood from Mackenzie 7 years ago and the after sale service was a total joke, it was so bad that I refused to take my RV back for warranty work.
I went to Terry's for warranty work and he said and he said he would service RV's purchased at other Rockwood dealers except from MacKenzie but being a nice person he agreed to do my service work. I recommend Terry whenever I can and friends who have bought from him are pleased with the service and pricing.

Travel-Mor in Ottawa. Family owned Rockwood dealership. Incredible staff, from the management down to the service and parts departments. Good prices, with none of the b.s. you get from most of the dealers when purchasing. Service department is awesome, fixed flaws in the trailer that went above and beyond what I expected.
I wouldn't go anywhere else, even if it's a bit of a drive for you.

We ordered our Rockwood TT from Recreational Sales & Storage in Peterborough. We went to trailer shows & talked to sales people at trailer dealers. Got sick of the phone calls & bs. Doug Abbott is the owner/sales person and his wife Ann runs the office. They seem to be very honest & straightforward. We have spoken to other customers who are more than happy with the customer service. I think we got a fair deal on our purchase considering the American dollar. We don't have our TT yet, so not sure about follow up service, but as I said, we've talked to other happy clients.

As we are in the habit of representing FROG at some nearby trailer shows I am not prepared to recommend or disparage any particular dealers. I will however say that Sauder's always has a huge display at the Toronto shows and there is another show at the end of February at the International Centre. I have also dealt with some of their people on a personal basis as they are also FROGS who attend the Goshen Rally. I have not heard anything bad about them and they are located reasonably close to you in the centre of an area known for hospitality and fair dealing. B and B is right about the food thing too. Lots of good food that "really schmecks". Old Guys

I agree with Malc on McKenzie trailers. We bought our TT 23IKSS 2 yrs ago, had warranty issues with the cough and other items, service called us to have them fixed and replaced they ordered the wronmg size of couch in the wrong color, servicing is always long to get an appointment I would NOT recommend them ever. Last summer while in Ottawa we had issues with our electric jack called Travel-Mor and got it replaced on site that very day so we could continue our trip. Although I live in Trenton, On I will continue to go to Ottawa which is 2.5 hrs away. servicing was friendly and above what I expected as we didn't buy from them in the first place.

Rockwood Dealers

We spoke to the folks at Recreational Sales in Peterborough looking at new trailers before purchasing privately. They seemed very knowledgeable and service orientated although I found their pricing about $1,000 to $1,500 higher than Terry's in Owen Sound on the same unit. We were looking at the 2109S model, but wound up buying a 1 year old model privately.

Thanks for all the replies.

I would prefer to not buy from Mackenzie Trailers. They did decent work when replacing the bunk doors on my Roo but they were very difficult to get hold of. I didn't feel like they really wanted my business that badly. I felt their salesperson at the Toronto RV show was pushy and I didn't like that he wanted a $5000 down payment on the spot.

Peterborough is close so I'll check into Recreational Sales. Sounds like Sauders, Terry's and Travel-Mor are all good but they're all 3+ hours away. I'm sure that Campkins would do warranty work I need if I buy a new unit. They're only about 40 minutes away.

Can't speak for Campkins service but I sure wouldn't buy from them. Their prices are always much higher than any around and then they try the old scam of adding freight, PDI and admin charges. What a rip off!

We bought our first TT from Mackenzie's and had nothing but problems from service Dept. Had to get factory rep to help. Now we bought a 2013 Rockwood Windjammer 3008 from Sauder's and I can't say how well the service is with them. The service department will go out of their way to make sure your satisfied. I travel 2.5 hours to get to them but its well worth it. Sauder's are the ones for us! Don't trust Mackenzie's

Canadian dollar is not doing well but the 40 to 50 percent savings might still be worth it, ever notice that Canadian dealers never post the price, I figure if they did that people could actually compare.

I've never bought a trailer from Campkins but I've been happy with their service dept. The store prices are similar to other dealers but they have good deals at their annual Spring open house. Picked up an electric tongue jack for half price. They've always been friendly and helpful to me.

They don't sell Rockwood which is what I'm looking for but they do sell other FR brands so they can do warranty work.

That scam is what the Mackenzie salesman tried at the Toronto RV show this past weekend.

I've gotten quotes from RVW, RV Direct and Wana RV. With the current exchange rate, Canadian dealers can get very close to the U.S. prices especially if you figure in the extra cost to travel to the states. A couple years back when our dollar was at or above par, Canadian dealers couldn't come close.

I would stay away from Leisure Days RV. DeeJay RV in Havelock Ont. do not sell Rockwood but are a Forest River dealership. Gary is a great person to deal with and will not try to sell you a TT your TV cannot tow. Have you gone to any of the RV shows?
Ottawa is at the end of Feb. and Quinte RV and Boat show is a week later. The Toronto International RV show is Feb.26 to March 1. There was a show in Toronto last weekend. I have found that the Toronto show in Feb. has great manufacturer upgrade at no extra cost on many of the units. Plus all the major banks are there to finance your deal.
