Retiring!!

I am finally retiring in June this year. Want to take a couple months, start w Yosemite then Yellowstone if it’s not to late for reservations. Then head up into Canada and possibly Alaska. Lots of planning needed, any suggestions? Got lots of help last trip to S Dakota. Pulling a 26 ft travel trailer
Thanks

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement. May you have many wonderful years of travel. Both parks are pretty busy in the summer months, book now for a reservation.

I have a Tracer Air 206 which is a very similar floorpan, but different enough. A great couples TT though.

BTW, used to live not too far from you in Camarillo. Loved living there except for all the fires.

Safe and happy travels.

The baby boomer generation is retiring rapidly. My wife is retired. I am semi-retired. Best of luck to the upcoming generation. They’re gonna need it.

Retirement is great. I'm 14 years into it already. It's great to go "camping" without having to hurry back home so you can go to work on Monday.

Definitely grab reservations at all the popular places ASAP. For some you may already be too late. My Son and I are planning a trip at the end of April and at the end of January the park we're going to had only 13 suitable spots out of over 600.

One important factor is finding a place that will accommodate YOUR setup. Lots of "Pickup Camper" and Tent spots but not always spots for tow truck and trailer or larger coaches.

Congratulations on your retirement. It is probably too late to get a reservation in Fishing Bridge RV park in Yellowstone. There are several parks in West Yellowstone or Cody for you to stay. If you are heading to Canada, then stop at Glacier NP in NW Montana and go over the Going To The Sun highway.

Definitely too late for reservations inside Yosemite.
Probably can get something outside the Park.

We wanted to camp in Yellowstone, but the reservations were filled.

Undeterred, I went online every night and searched for reservations at Fishing Bridge. Two days before we got there, we snagged 4 nights at the park. Ran into another couple who had called every morning and also got reservations.

People cancel at the last minute and if you're lucky and have a hard sided unit, Fishing Bridge is a great place to camp. Of course, having a backup plan is always a good idea.

Yea, sometimes the only way I can tell if it's a weekday or a weekend, is the amount of traffic in the morning. If it's a weekday, I sip my coffee & watch 'em drive by.

Some of us don't consider FB as a great place to camp.

If you can dry camp, other campgrounds are WAY nicer than FB.
Madison, Bridge Bay, Canyon, Mammoth and Grant are MUCH nicer.

At one time the KOA in W. Yellowstone was rated as the best in the country. Stayed there many years ago and agree it was nice (at least then). Only hassle was getting in and out of the park with the traffic through the entrance "gate". Seems like everyone else wants to go where you are going at the same time.

Congrats on your up coming retirement. I did it 12 years ago and never looked back. Go camping when ever never worry about getting back to a job and can also do it during the week when everyone else is Doing the W thing. Enjoy Later RJD
