Has anyone heard of having to increase the reg gross weight that is listed on your vehicle registration of your tow vehicle because you have a trailer?

No, but I know guys that register their trucks with a heavier GVW to get out of emissions testing, but not due to towing

Yes they asked about my trailer and I could not deny it as it was registered in my name and on the screen, I wanted to go with the lower weight and if I could it was cheaper (the Scot. in me) its an extra 30 a year.

I checked with the dealership and they had never heard of it. We found out that there is a difference in rules for towijg a boat versus travel trailers.

In Illinois, when registering my truck, I've never been asked about a trailer. When registering my trailer, I've never been asked about my truck.

You can do that here is PA as well. If you register the vehicle and trailer "in combination" it can keep you under the 26,001lb requirements of needing a CDL or NC-CDL depending on how large your rig is.

If they ask for your TV plus TT when you buy TV plates, you sure as heck should get the TT plates free!

X2 in Georgia. Each is separate when getting tags and taxes. I don't pay for a tag or tax on my truck as a disabled vet. Not so on the trailer.

I agree but that's not the way it is here. Camper $100 for the one time permanent plate. The truck was $48 a year for 14000 lbs but now its up to $75 to cover 22,000 lbs. That's just for the plates.
