We are going to Mew Lake beginning of May. Have been in touch with Algonquin Park reps requesting dates that the water will be turned on at the one and only dump site on HWY 60. The earliest date at the moment is April 28 (depends on the night time temps).
Enjoy Easter weekend at Mew Lake. We were there last Easter and enjoyed it very much. So much warmer this year, so expect it to be very busy.
Hopefully they'll have the water turned on at the spigots in the campground. Last year you could only get water by the jerry can in the laundry room of the comfort station...what a PITA!
Here's a picture from the the Bat Lake trail last Easter. I have more pictures of Algonquin from April '11 in the members photo gallery if you're interested.
We had great weather for our trip to Algonquin Park this past Easter Weekend. The campground was busy but not full (75% full). The nights dipped down to minus 7 Celsius the first couple of nights but the days warmed to about to the middle teens.
We were impressed with the camper. We will have to find our 'routine' for setting up but that will come with time. Seeing how we had an electric site, we had an electric heater going during the night. Everything was roasty toasty at night, especially compared to our previous popup. Dumping the tanks was a success - we were surprised at the lack of dumping stations in the park - can't imagine the line-ups inthe summer!!
Saw several moose, ruffed grouse, beaver and a turtle (!!) while driving and while on our hikes.
We posted some pics in our Album under our profile.
We can't wait for our next trip - probably another Provincial Park in Ontario.
