1/2 Time Microwave Oven Replacement

Well, my 1/2 Time Micro finally died. I guess I am one of the lucky ones since my Lexie is an '06. I found an Emerson model MWG9115SB at Walmart for $89! It almost fits like a glove. The micro fits perfect, the existing outer grillwork for the 1/2 Time Over needed only minor modification due to the Emerson being about a 1/4" taller. It is VERY quiet, has 1100 watts, and a upper broiling element to allow you to broil and micro at the same time!

Replacement Con't

Well, I am back home from my week at Ft Wilderness at Disney World. I have completed the microwave install. Wow, looks like it came from the factory! I had to remove the first 2 upper horizontal bars of the old micro surround because the Emerson is taller. I also removed the feet on the Emerson, placed non-skid rubber on the old mount in the bottom of the micro cabinet, then adjusted the micro so I could use the existing holes to remount the surround. To see the pics you need to visit my Lexie Mods page; You may want to check out my couch replacement also. I installed one of the Theater Seating Loveseats from Camping World. All I can say is WOW!!! I feel like my little Lexie is a Prevost!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Micro Confused.

What about the gas cooktop? Is that still there and you just removed the innards of the microwave section (I see the control panel/clock part is still there in your pictures), and put in a different nuke? Curious because ours died and really cannot justify replacement with the same type due to cost. Was venting an issue? Thanks for the info.

1/2 time oven/cooktop

No problem. They are two separate units. The vented frame around the micro comes off with 6 screws and there it is. It will all make perfect sense when you remove that frame...

Where did you purchase the Emerson. My 1/2 still works but I much prefer a full time microwave.

PLEASE IGNORE MY QUESTION. I see in your photo that you got it at Walmart.

We settled on a Panasonic model #NN-SN651B. The Emerson mentioned above as out of stock at our Wally World. We added a 1" board below it to raise it up some. An additional .5" would have been perfect, but used what we had on hand. That left a .5" gap at the top (using the old trim plate), but not really noticeable. The door of the microwave fits the old trim opening perfectly. There is about a .5" gap on each side, but also not really noticeable. Whle at it, we replaced the 26" TV with a 32". That was a large as the spot would allow.[URL="http://www.forestriverforums.com/forums/members/49748-albums2305.html"]

Completed the microwave mod for our 2008 Lexi 283gts, as RickLSmith53. Same mod to the old trim ring. Only difference is I installed a convection micro. Not counting the time to buy the replacement appliance it was a 5 hour job with the occasional extra set of hands - thanks to the DW.
