Carrying a scooter on the back of a Lexington

I am considering getting a scooter as extra transport when I travel with my Lexington. Would it be safe for the RV to carry a 280 lb scooter on the hitch? (Hitch is rated to carry 500 lb)
Thanks for your help!

We carried 2 on the back of our Georgetown before we got the MG toad. I think they are 200lb each. They are the Chinese import type --49cc 35 mph. Worked out well but they are now for sale complete with the aluminum carrier.
