Draining Fresh Water Tank

I just got through crawling under the 2005 Lexington 255GTS since I want to empty the fresh water tank. First I looked under the bed and found a valve which I think opens the tank; then I found 2 plastic pipes under the frame which I think allows the tank to drain. I tried turning the bottom plug but it doesn't seem to turn. I used a plier to hold the top nut while turning the bottom nut but I am unable to remove it.

What am I doing wrong? I don't want to apply more torque since it might break.

I have drained tank in the past by opennimg the valve under the bed. I'm sure I have the same setup.

Hi Gerry: But where does the water drain from? Does it come out one of these tubes in the photo?

and if it does, why are there two hoses? I have the same setup, haven't had a chance to use fresh water tank yet.

I haven't seen the two tubes in your pictures. I just observed water draining below the tank once I opened the valve.
I will check tomorrow. Its dark already in Maine

You got my curiosity up so I checked under my 2006 255 GTS and found only one hose. Something is strange since there is only one valve to open to drain fresh water tank. I'm not sure why you would have two drains.

Two drain tubes generally locate low-point drains for hot and cold water plumbing - used for draining for winter.

That was my first thought, but aren't low point drains usually colored code Red and Blue?

I know they could have been replaced at sometime after the factory.

X2 Fire Instructor, I would think that the photo shows the hot and cold drains, I would look else where for the fresh water drain. I have seen where the PEX pipe for the hot and cold was the same color and there were colored caps and the caps could have been lot and replaced with white. you should be able to grab the top and bottom with a pair of channel lock pliers and unscrew the caps provided you are turning it the right direction. You can also crawl around under the trailer and look for another drain tube and you may find a short piece with a valve on it.

Not necessarily. We used to use the pex you see in that picture (clear/opaque). We didn't start using blue/red until 2010? 2011?

OK. I just opened the fresh water tank drain valve located under the bed and saw that the water was draining from a third hose located under the frame. I still don't know how to open the plugs on these two hoses as I tried again, with pliers, to loosen them and they refuse to turn. And yes, I was turning CCW. Do I even need to open them for any reason or should I just forget about it? Thanks for any input.

Can you hold the base piece? Base should be crimped/compressed onto the pex line (the threaded male part) then try and turn the cap.

Or just cut them off and put a new cap on. Maybe someone glued them??
