Generator

It's 90 degrees. We stopped for the night. Powered up the generator and turned on the air plus a small fan. The generator ran about 15 minutes and kicked off. No breakers were blown but the in line generator fuse blew. We fixed that & the generator started right up. It ran for just a very few minutes and kicked off again so we are back on the road until it weather cools down or we find a camp site with shore power. We did leave the AC on when restarting the generator. I'm sure that was a mistake. What should we look for tomorrow when we try that generator again? This is a 2011 Lexington with fewer that 100 hours on the generator.

I'd run it the same amount of time with out the ac on. Could be as simple as the breaker is bad. Or the ac could be drawing too many amps

Silly question, but how much gas is in your rig's gas tank. The generators are set to cut off if tank gets down to 1/4 tank or so. Safety precaution so genny dosen't use up all the fuel leaving you stranded.

Thanks. We know that is an issue and had just topped off the tank.

Generator

I fought generator problems for a year and a half! First my local RV repair said it was a bad carburetor. So I had them replace it ($550.00). Got it back and had the same problem, ran 10-15 minutes and choked out. I did some NET research and found if carb has been replaced, it has to be the computer control board. Then I read that "Flight Systems" has a much better than ONAN factory computer board, so I ordered and installed myself. ($350) And what a job. They built the geny around it! Guess what, I still had the problem!!! I was now ready to replace the whole thing. Well Flight Systems has a very good Tech Supt. dept. After working with them they decided it HAD to be a bad fuel pump due to all that had been done so far. Bottom line, my problem from the start was a bad fuel pump! $60 on eBay!!! Only problem was it is located under that computer board they built the generator around!!! I am now pretty good at working in that area with my FINGERTIPS! The good news is, I should have no more generator trobs. One absolute fact with generators is to run them. I run mine every 15 days under load for 15-20 minutes.

What is the wattage of the generator? My parents sunseeker (4000 watt) could barely run the ac plus a few other things before tripping.
