Restoring finish on my Lexi

Anyone have any hints on good ways to improve the finish on my 2007 Lexington? I just got it about a month ago and want to try to take good care of my new toy! It's not awful, just kind of dull looking, especially on the over-cab awning.
You guys are great! Thanks in advance!
Cindy

Helping the finish

We recently got a 2012 Lexington with full body paint. The unit had just over 6000 miles but it had numerous scratches and paint chips and it was pretty obvious that the paint had never seen wax.
We took our buffer with 3M Imperial Microfinishing compound to level the scratched areas and then 3M Ultrafina Machine polish to get the swirl marks out then waxed with Mothers carnuba wax.
It made a huge improvement but from your post it sounds like you can skip the Microfinishing and go straight to the polish and wax.

This works for paint but if you have gel coat finish I am not totally sure but I have seen previous posts about special cleaners and waxes.

I bought foam pads and they are much better, in my opinion, then the bonnets. They make different pads for different purposes such as heavy cutting down to final polishing. You made need the mild cut pad then move to a polishing pad.

Thanks! I shared this with my dad, who was very interested. Why are the foam pads better than the bonnets?

I think they work better since they do not bunch up and I cant explain but it feels like they are easier to control. Also they wash better.
