Shore power to generator question

When I am on shore power and want to run the generator or vice versa should I disconnect shore power before using the generator. Thanks, I forgot to mention it's on a 2007 Lexington 283GTS

If you have the auto-switching selector it will always select Gen automatically if it's running (after the delay of course), and the shore cord won't be doing anything at is will essentially be disconnected from the system at the switcher. Won't hurt anything. If you have a manual switch, select away, it also won't hurt anything.
