Here's a link to Motorhome Magazines dingy towing site. I suspect somewhere in there is a list of what vehicles can be towed (TOADs).

I had someone call and ask me for the best vehicle to tow behind their motorhome. I said there are a lot of variables and that we didn't really recommend a "best tow vehicle". I was then told that it was "ridiculous that since we built the motorhome that we did not recommend a vehicle to pull behind it". I suggested she contact a local car dealer to find what units would be towed 4 wheels down. Not even sure she was still listening...seemed dumbfounded that I did not have an answer for her.

I also recommended this forum, as I often do. That also did not seem to sit well with her.

I'm surprised she didn't ask why there wasn't a supplied tow vehicle attached to the MH when she picked it up.

Recommendation of a toad vehicle from the RV manufactue would be very difficult to do and keep updated, not to mention being liability free.

An example would be Ford. Ford had published a few of their models as being 4 wheel down towable. But, later issued a statement that these or some of these same models were on longer approved as being toad capable due to transmission problems having shown up over time.

There are also many vehicles that come to market that would need to be added to the list.

Manufactures of motor homes are just that....manufactures of motor homes. And I commend them for sticking to what they know. Now, I feel sure that if a auto manufacture were to offer a fee to the a motor home manufacture for adding a promotion card or package leading a new motor home buyer in their direction things could change. Of course I also feel sure that part of the agreement to put such a promotion in an owners packet would include a release of liability should problems arise.
