Pretty broad question but here are some general criteria. Except for exceeding your tow vehicles weight capacity there isn't much of anything that cannot be towed on a trailer. A dolly can also handle most everything except for some all wheel drive vehicles and rear wheel drive automatics. If you want to tow 4 down the list that cannot be towed gets much bigger. If you have a manual transmission or 4WD with a shiftable transfer case you are usually go to go with few exceptions. A few automatics and the new "manual based" automatics are usually acceptable to tow 4 down. You need to consult the owners manual of your specific vehicle to find out what is acceptable. You may need to do some preparations to tow four down such as pull fusses, lift battery cables, defeat steering locks, start the towed vehicle every few hours of towing, etc. Of course with 4 down you should (some states it is a law) have some on board auxiliary braking system setup installed on the Towed vehicle.

Honda CRV's are popular toads. Before getting our 5th wheel we towed one behind our class C.

Google either Family Motor Coach or Motorhome magazine and each year they will list those vehicles that can be towed 4 wheels down. The list of can is much shorter than the list of can't in this case. You can also search by year of vehicle.

However, before purchasing a new TOAD do check the owners manual for proper applications, do not trust a sales persons word as they usually have no real idea.

I have a Lexi and tow either a 2024. Terrain automatic
, a 2006 Mini Cooper standard or a 2002 GMC Sonoma crew 4wd. Use Patriot aux brake sys with no trouble. Loose about 1mpg.

I towed a Saturn Vue four-down behind my 2006 Lexington... Gave it to my son when I sold my Lexington and stepped up to a Berkshire.... Tow a Mini Cooper behind it....

We tow an Edge behind our 283. Once you have narrowed down your choices, I suggest that you Google that model as a toad. That will usually direct you to forums dedicated to that model, and can be a wealth of info.
