Towing a car with Lex210

Hello all, Happy Turkey Day if you are seeing this today

We are planning an extensive x-county trip in the spring and was wondering if anyone has towed a car with their 210--Pros and Cons mpg etc

I happen to have a Tiburon that weighs 3000 lbs that I was thinking of selling, but if it is a good idea, could tow it to scoot around in.

Thoughts ??

We tow our Jeep almost every time we go anywhere. First summer was from home in Florida to Wyoming and Montana. Second was the same but started out going to Quebec first then over to the west.
It tows good and the V-10 has more than enough power. Really hard to figure fuel mileage when parked for a few weeks and running the generator. But ballpark figure when towing out and back is 8 to 9 mpg.

Thanks dontay, The Tiburon is only 3000 lbs, 1500 less that the jeep. Not as high and 4wd like the jeep but I have it !!
Florida would be nice right now. Crazy cold in NY. Hope to move to Port Charlotte after our one year journey

My Cherokee only weighs 3550# (scale weight.) But both axles spin all the time whether towed or driving so the resistance to towing is fairly high.
Enjoy Port Charlotte and hope you can get away every summer like we do.

Hetken1......

Couple of things......you can’t flat tow every vehicle out there, especially the automatic transmission models. I’m not sure what kind of tranny your Tiburon has, but if it’s automatic, it may be very $$ to modify it for towing.

Then.....not every vehicle has a Baseplate available from the manufacturer to tow. A Baseplate is unique to each make of vehicle, and attaches right to the chassis front to tow. It’s usually based on popularity.

We tow a 3200 lb Subaru Crosstrek with our 2012 Lexi 283ts.
We take it weather it on a 3 day trip, or a 3 month trip.
40,000 miles towing it and a lot more to come.
Do I notice it's back there...yes.
Is it hard on the Lexi towing it...no.
Towed it up thru the Rockies (USA and Canada), to Alaska and back. Across the USA twice and back.
43 of the 50 states. Does it affect mpg...yes.
Do I worry about the mpg...no.

I have a 2009 Honda Fit automatic (2600 lbs) that I have flat towed behind my 28' Class C Lexington. Only requirement is to start the engine and run thru the gears, then put it in neutral. After that it has a 65 mph speed limit and a requirement to restart the engine and run thru the gears every 8 hrs. Newer Honda's have a CVT transmission that I don't think you can flat tow. Gas mileage? Have not computed.
