Our Lexi 283ts also had a filter under the bed, and I remember just after getting her, reading all the posts about defective/bad water filter housings. Didn't have the rig a week before I cut the filter out and bridged the gap with a length of pex and two sharkbite fittings. No more worries at all.
Since we bring bottled water for drinking/cooking, never bothered to get another remote mount filter.

Sorry for your troubles! Good news is you recovered from flood and now know to turn off city water when leaving your rig.

Had similar flood mess last year while we slept. The "new and improved" model FR1 water filter housing exploded in our new Rockwood 8289ws 5er. Replaced the new model FR1 filter system with well proven older model CC10 water filter system. I always use a pressure regulator on city water line, so the FR1 system failed with normal pressure (40 psi).

Interesting that 3 weeks earlier in same RV park, another owner of same year, same model Rockwood 5er had same catastrophic failure of FR1 water filter system. Those folks bypassed internal filter and began using the external water filter.

Depending on the filters you choose if you do there may be a slight increase in flow rate.

Check the flow rate on the one you have now and then look online for the filter you might be interested in, flow rate should be in the description.

Sorry to hear of your major water . FWIW, the first time we went to Fort Wilderness with our older MH we had a water line leak while gone but thankfully not as bad as yours. We had NOT used a pressure regulator and found out that the Wilderness campground had VERY high water pressure. Like over 80psi. After that I never hook up without using a whole house regulator.

Thanks for the guidance. Which filters do you use and is each filter built for a specific item to remove. Is your water pressure regulator placed after the filters and to the camper or before the filters?

Sediment, charcoal, regulator.

Filters keep everything clean, how you wish to set a system up is your call.
I saw a system set up with the regulator first because the owner was worried about the pressure blowing the filter canister.

If you decide to go with the outside system get a adjustable regulator with a gauge.

Not that it would make a difference now,,, but I wonder what the psi was @ that campgrounds ???
We never leave home for more than a day that we do not turn our well pump off,,,
same type of thing can happen @ your home !!!
I could tell you some real sad stories about water damage !!!

Oh hell no never. That is just what city pressure sits at. The house has pressure regulator of higher quality than the one one trailer, which is never on city water at home. But makes think that if I was to big spending much time on hookups I would probably get a better pressure regulator than the standard one we carry.

I had the water filter removed before I drove it off of the dealer's lot for the same reason. I also removed the filter on my last two RVs.

I wouldn't think so. It looks like they're plumbed in parallel so flow shouldn't be affected.

I hear the test RVs with air @ the factory,,,

In residential new construction plumbing we test the water lines (regardless of material) and water heater at 120 psi. I have tested PEX and CPVC up to 300 psi using a hydrostatic pump. I imagine our RVs are tested somewhere between 100-120 psi, including the water heater. Testing the entire system above 150 psi will result in the water heater's T&P valve relieving pressure.

Thanks for the Info nomad,,, that is a lot of pressure !!!
I had a W\H go bad in a brand new Manufactory Home a few years back,,,
Owners used it as a vacation home,,, and did not turn the well pump off like I had suggested when they left... A neighbor then called them one day when she saw water running out from behind the Vinyl Siding about 2 or 3 feet above the bottom of the home !!!

You know when you live in a home with a well,,, it is a real job to flip the breakers off on your pump when you leave !!! NOT !!!

Shut off pressure is listed at 55 psi. This is a popular pump found in many RVs. No idea if it's the one in yours!

As an aside-- you can buy this pump all day long on Ebay for $55 + shipping.
Camping world lists it on "sale" for $91 yikes!!
