'15 3010DS Water Pump Bypass Kit

Did anyone install one of these yet? I bought one, but the space by the water pump is tight and not sure I will be able to install, so I'm thinking of installing it right off the water tank under the bed. Anyone do it?

I installed mine at the pump inlet but it was not easy. I don't see a problem placing it closer to the water tank though.

I did install mine just beside the pump, and yes, it was tight. Doable but a lot of aggravation.

Here's how I did mine. The white hose at the bottom is the original, shortened.

Dam, that does seem tight RvBill3. Might just do it under the bed.

Don't want to seem ignorant, but what is the purpose of a "Water Pump Bypass kit" ?

So you don't have to put antifreeze in the fresh water tank, saving money (less antifreeze) and residual antifreeze taste from the fresh water tank

You need the water pump to pump the antifreeze throughout the lines. If you bypass the pump, the water in the plastic filter housing will freeze and it will break....

I drain the fresh water tank completely, open all faucets and then turn the water pump on rid any residual water. I then use the fresh water inlet to blow compressed air through the line. Close the faucets and use a hand pump to add antifreeze through the fresh water inlet. Add some to the traps and I'm done. I have not used the onboard pump to winterize and have not had any issues or problems.

The fittings at the top and bottom are the original fittings. It wasn't too bad to take them off, shorten the original water line (white hose), and add the bypass kit. Used new clamps on the water line, as the originals are hard to remove without ruining them. Put the original fittings back on and you're done. Probably took a half hour or less once I figured out what I wanted to do.

When we picked up our 2014 Sunseeker I asked the dealer for a winterizing kit. And I received the same one I have always received with all our travel trailers. You unscrew the pump inlet and put the winterizing line onto the pump inlet and the end of the hose goes into the anti freeze jug. Switch on the pump and antifreeze is pumped thru all lines as you open the taps/ outside shower toilet Etc. and that's it for winterizing. Not much to it and have never had any issues.

I did the bypass kit on my 2015 3010. In case anyone is looking to do this, it isn't real difficult, but I made a mistake not knowing too much about the clamps that are used from the factory. I installed everything with no problem, but I used a regular hose clamp at the very top where I cut the plastic tubing under the fresh water tank. I only use the fresh water tank once a year on a longer trip so it took me about 5 months after I did the job to realize it leaked where I used the hose clamp. Luckily I have a neighbor that's a plumber and he had the crimping tool and the correct clamp to do it correctly. I originally didn't put back the same type of clamp because that tool to do it was around $70 and I thought a regular hose clamp would work.

Doesn't the pump pull FROM the tank and not TO the tank? I thought that when I flip the switch to bypass the tank and use the antifreeze intake line that the pump takes the antifreeze straight into the coach and not the tank. Is that right?

You're correct. It's not pulling water out of the tank when you bypass. It pulls it from the hose connected to the by pass valve straight into your water lines.

Ok that's what I thought. So I'm still a little confused.

I have a 2015 Forester 3011 and it came with a bypass and a hose for antifreeze already as part of the plumbing. It is accessible in the same door as the pump and the tank empty valve. The OP states he is adding the bypass kit to a 3015 Sunseeker 3010. Does the Sunseeker not come with the bypass already installed. Or is it being added for something else?

Correct. The 3010 doesn't come with the bypass already installed.
