2014 Sunseeker 3050 house batteries

Has anyone converted to 6 volt batteries?
I'm not getting the performance I need out of the 12s. I see there is only 10.5" of height in the battery box and the Trojans are 10.88" tall, and the Interstate GC2 is a tad over 11". Do I need to install some blocks under the step plate in order to get my extra inch?

Who's done this and which brand did you use?

Ok, it was a success!! Interstate GC2 6 volt at Costco. 2 for $180. $20 for 1" square wood, longer bolts and glue. I raised the step by 1" and the tall 6 volts fit like a charm. Sure am glad I thought out this project before paying the dealer $400 some bucks to do the conversion. Today was a Win Win!Click image for larger version

No one get too excited. We started hinging the lid on the new ones with a front latch/clasp.

Would take a little more thought.

Outlaw, make sure you put a rubber/foam gasket on there to prevent any gas leaks.

Here's one for ya Brian.. why not redesign those battery boxes to hold 4 6'rs to begin with? ;-) Anyone doing any kind of serious camping would probably appreciate it.

You'd be surprised how many non-Class A users are NOT using 4 6 volt batteries.

1. we don't want to sacrifice the weight.
2. You can get a 12v battery in a pinch anywhere. Not so with 6 volts.
3. If a cell goes out on a 12V, you can run with a single...not so with the 6 volt.

So while its a great idea it is not without its trade offs. The demand is just not high enough at this time.
