2015 Sunseeker 3170DS Generator Question

When I picked up my new RV in May, the demo guy told me to prime the generator for about 10 seconds before I start it. I have been doing this ever since. I just read the manual for my generator (Cummins 4kW, spec P) and it says to just start it and you only have to prime if the generator ran out of gas previously.

Should I be priming it every time?

Same on mine (2015 3010ds but its the same generator). In fact, I usually have to prime closer to 20 seconds unless the generator has been run in the last day or so. Its a looooong way from the fuel tank to the generator.
