2017 3050S questions before purchase

Am seriously considering this rig and will be traveling about 2 hours to go see it Saturday and have a few questions....

1. Do the tv's have HDMI ports for game systems, Roku's etc.?
2. Can the kids watch TV while driving?
3. Is there an LP hookup for a grill?
4. About what kind of gas mileage can I expect?
5. This unit has an outside TV. Is there a central location for playing DVDs that you can choose which tv to display to?

I'm sure I'll have more questions, but thanks in advance

I have a 2017 Forester 3051. Sister to your 3050

1. I have 32" Jensen in the living room and outside. They both have dual HDMI ports.

2. Yes you can watch tv while driving.

3. There is no hookup for LP grill. But, you can add one to the propane tank. Camco sells a tee with connection and 12' hose. part #59103

4. I average 8-8.5 mpg.

5. My living room radio plays DVDs to the living room TV via HDMI. Mine came with a radio mounted under the outside TV which plays DVDs to the outside TV.

Thanks for the quick reply. They are telling me you can't watch TV without an inverter? Does yours have one?

The factory TV’s operate off 12 VDC. so no inverter needed. But assuming this is a previously owened unit they may have been changed.

The LP quick connect for a grill is a factory option. They can also be installed aftermarket/DIY as previously mentioned.

My 2012 SunSeeker came with an inverter for the outlet near the TV. I added my own tape/DVD player so it can be watched going down the road. TV is behind and above driver.

Interesting. My outside and bedroom TVs are 12 volt but the livingroom TV is 120 volt.
Since we have the entertainment center I suppose if I leaned my head back far enough I could watch the TV while I drive [emoji12] if it was 12 volt.

2017 3050S questions before purchase

Not in your question list but, Understand the cargo carrying capacity. C's of this length ,assumed to be 30', does not allow much weight room for people, water, food and other stuff.
Other 3050/3051 owners, please weigh in. I have a 3170.

I did not realize that the TV used in the entertainment center was 120 VAC. My unit has the cab over bed with a 12 VDC swing out TV.

Mine came with a 120 volt TV when we bought it. On a swing out mount in the cab overhead.

Good question. Assuming that doesn't include towing capacity of 7500 lbs, I guess I could stow stuff in my TOAD correct?

Yes, we stow stuff in our toad when needed. As long as you don't exceed the toad's carrying capacity.

Seems the factory uses whatever they have on hand at time of build.

Steve, my comment wasn't meant to be a gotcha. Hope you didn't take it that way. A32deuce has one like yours but also 120 volt so as I commented to him they must use whatever they have on hand.

I dont really mind. There is a duplex 120 volt receptacle in the adjacent cabinet where the TV gets power and that's where I plug in my wi-fi extender. An additional 12 volt outlet would've been nice so I could use an inverter when not on shore or generator power. That's on my to-do list.

As others mentioned, you can use your toad for storage to a point. CCW or CCC was the one thing that we didn't look at and were surprised by. We weren't aware of this forum until after our purchase.

If anyone travels with us, we have to decide what to leave home. We travel with approx 2 gallons of water in gray and black tanks and maybe 10 gallons fresh. We carry enough food for a couple of meals and pick up anything else as needed along the way. Full propane, gasoline and tow dolly tongue weight put our GVW at 14,450 lbs on the cat scale. Front and rear axle weights are within 25 lbs of maximum each.
We had a 4 corner weight check and were balanced on each wheel within 10 lbs left to right. Our toad and tow dolly weigh in at less than 5000 lbs loaded so we're good there.

I do my best to watch all systems, especially tires, closely and re-evaluate what we can travel without after each trip. Last trip revealed we carry too many clothes. Running at maximum on everything can't be good for the long term. I can only hope the vehicle weight ratings allow some percentage above published numbers.

Even with all of the above we wouldn't want to travel any other way and wish you well on your research and decision.

Personally, I'd be way more concerned about the slide operation, roof condition, tire condition, engine/tranny service records, appliance and A/C operation than the entertainment features.

My post was related to operational questions. Obviously these are concerns and should be reviewed by anyone wishing to purchase an RV

Kirk I did not take it as a gotcha, I think you are correct that it whats on top in the pile of TV’s on the line. My unit has both 12VDC & 120VAC plugs for the front and bedroom TV’s, I do not have the outside one on my build. It seems there are no 2 units built exactly alike.

Yeah, no worries. I've seen many RV buyers worry about the wrong things....
