2020 SS mud flap bracket broken

On the first big trip in our new 2020 Sunseeker 2440DS (Ford), I noticed the flap between the propane tank and the front of the right rear wheel is shredding in the lower corner. Closer inspection shows it had rubbed severely on the tire. Root cause appears to be that the vertical angle iron screwed to the flap and meant to stiffen the flap is no longer attached to the cross member above it. So I looked at the mud flaps behind the rear wheels. The vertical brace on the driver side mud flap is flopping free, too, but the passenger side is OK.

Next, I came across a new 2420MS at a nearby dealer. I poked around and found one of the three mud flap vertical braces is broken on that unit, too. So that’s three broken braces on two new motorhomes!

I haven’t contacted the selling dealer yet to obtain a new warranty mud flap, but seeing how this issue might be widespread, I was wondering if anyone else noticed this problem on a 2019 or 2020 Ford based Sunseeker.

Had it on my 2012 and fixed it myself.

Thanks for responding. Was the stiffener bar originally welded or bolted? What method did you use to repair it?

Rewelded with an added brace.
Had to remove spray foam on it, but spot welded it back. Figured it didn't need to be too stiff just in case. Rather loose it then cause damage to the RV.

My 2019 3010ds passenger rear mud flap in front of dually wheels support was broken as well. Shredded flap. Have to call to get new on on warranty.

We have a 2020 2290s fresh from the factory the welds on the flaps look good to me. The only thing I've found wrong so far is that sombody didn't tighten the set screw that holds the drivers side mirror to the mounting arm.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like you got a good motorhome. That’s funny, I had to tighten that same left mirror setscrew. Other warranty problems on my 2020 are a fairly long list. The dealer orders me parts; I install them. I waited for retirement to replace our old camper so I’d have time to fix all the problems that come with a new motorhome.

I have a new Sunseeker 2440 DS and notice the mud flap between tire and propane tank is rubbed down due to vertical strut not attached. Did a temporary repair with two large hose clamps cross placed. Will take to the dealer this fall.
