2250 porpoising

I occasionally experience porpoising while driving my 2250 on a Chevy chassis.

Just wondering if anyone else has this problem and what is the cause.

Usually porpoising happens when your shocks are shot. That, and possibly the rear springs, although with your rig being a 2012, I'd lean toward the shocks.
The oe shocks, Ford and Chevy, are not the best.
Look into a better quality shock like the Koni's or Bilsteins. Pricy, but worth it.

I changes to HD Bilsteins on our 2015 3010, and I can say big difference when going over bumpy roads. The oem shocks have really bad spring back that jolts you. It's such a smoother feel with the Bilsteins. Not too bad to install. Took me an afternoon to do.

I put Monroe RV shocks on my 3100SS and it smoothed right out. E-450SD.

Yeah, on Pennsylvania highways. It generally has a nice smooth ride and handeling is fine. Sometimes it happens when there is a transition from blacktop to concrete or the reverse.

First time was on a newly resurfaced PA Turnpike that had two big bumps with warning signs. I slowed down from 65 to 50 but the traffic behind me kept me from slowing down more.

My dealer wants at least an hours labor to check the shocks so I didn't bother with them. I am thinking I can take it to a truck service center or a Chevy dealer.

My feeling is that I need shocks and the nce people who responded so far support that. But your omment and the fact that it rides well most of the time has me wondering.

I had the porpoising on my shorter wheelbase Winnebago 22 footer . Bilstein shocks solved it.

Mine is a 2012. Had about 20000 miles on it and was doing that on any road that had any undulation in the surface. After new went on, nice smooth ride again. You should know what Jersey roads are like!

Yup, I know Jersey roads too. Many years ago I rode my motorcycle to Toms River and the expansion joints on the concrete highway made a nice ride awful.

i gotta say that PA roads are worse in my experience.

Now for an off topic question. i crossed the little Rt. 202 bridge over the Delaware River from NJ to PA and EZ Pass charged me $6.50 for what used to be a 10 cent toll not too long ago. I have my transponder set up for both my car and my RV but it seems they were able to tell the difference. $6.50 seems outrageous to me.

I want to thank everyone for their responses. Good advice.

I took a ride today and paid more attention to ride quality. I plan to replace my shocks ASAP. I think they are getting worse, only 8400 miles on the odometer.

I saw on the KONI web site that the offer shocks for both the front and the rear. I didn't know there are shocks on the rear or is KONI wrong.

I'm not sure what the koni site is, but yes, you'll have front and rear shocks. Unless the front is struts. (coil spring with shock inside more or less)

Delco Bobby, Yes they can read your vehicle. I have a 32 Ford Coup, a 62 Falcon, and a 2012 SunSeeker on mine and get charged by what I am driving. Just remember, if you tow a vehicle with ezpass in it, remove it or you get charged twice. Don't ask how I know. Another thing, stay off the George Wash. Bridge to NYC. $50+ to cross. Whoa, I had no clue about the GW bridge. That is outrageous.

Now I am wondering about the Philly area bridges crossing the Delaware, the Atlantic City Expressway and the Garden State Parkway.

I don't recall any extra charges for the NJ Turnpike. I should take a closer look at my EZ Pass statements.

If you use the Turnpike after it is done, get off at Bristol and use the BB bridge. Don't cry it is narrow, I'm 32 ft. SS and 20ft. car trailer. I use back roads in south Jersey, no traffic or tolls. WW or Cape May? GW with car trailer is 75.00!
