2300 door hits awning arm
I wonder if anyone has damaged their door or awning arm by closing the awing with the door open and resting against the arm. After all, the control is just inside the door, so it'd be natural to leave the door open and reach in.
I just started doing it and stopped right away. In the future I'll not let that happen. But also, I think I'll rivet or glue a rubber bumper to the door so it doesn't contact the arm.

You can also change the gas strut location.

Door stop
I use a six inch piece of pipe foam on the awning. Works well with the 4 and 9 grandsons....

I bought a 2300 a couple of months ago and because it's freezing in Toronto I have not lowered the awning. It looks as though the arm will go past the door on the way down. I don't know if the roller could hit the door though. My strut is mounted 2.5 inches from the door frame. It looks to be OK to me.

Gerry,
The door opens more than 90 degrees.

Our awning when deployed is an issue with our door. I usually wrap a fabric bungee cord around the awning when its out where the door impacts the arm. I use the same cord the "tie" the door open when its windy.

We have a 2014 Wildcat that had the same problem. We returned it to the dealership and they moved it. Check the frame bolts also. Our decided to come out. Yes the frame bolts.

I have the Ford chassis so maybe there are dimensional differences. My door opens to as near 90 as possible. I am relieved. Have you done any "improvements" to your unit? I'm handy and open to suggestions. I have done a lot of dry camping with my other rig.

Could you please tell me about relocating the or changing the gas strut location. I would love to have this done before we take ownership on our new unit. I have already voiced my concern about the awning not covering the door

There is no need to move it unless the door opens past 90 degrees. As others have stated, their door does not hit. If it does hit, the mounting point can be shifted towards the latch side of the door which should limit its opening angle. Before doing that however make sure the gas strut shaft is threaded all the way on to the ends. That will shorten the strut as well.

Gingersnap. Returned our unit to the dealer, they moved the brackets and made a clearance But also check all door gaps on whole unit, Make sure they line up. Check caulking- We were told by FR this would not affect value of our unit and ended up costing about 10,000 in trade in value.

I cannot see how the mount can be relocated without removing the door frame. Advice please?? I hoping I can locate a shorter strut instead, though.
edit: upon further thought, maybe I can take the strut off and shorten the rod, then re-thread the end. I'll have to look at it.

Just buy a pool noodle and cut it to 12 inches and slice it lengthwise and when you set up put it on the awning strut. Problem solved
