2012 2300 Ford E350 Slowly getting ready for the road, New wiper blades, new tires thanks to the recall, and put a new slide and a stronger latch on one of the under dinet drawers. Soon will be dewinterizing and reinstalling the TV. I don't want to dewinterize too soon and cause anymore snow.

Slider

I too had the slider catch break on the drawer directly in front of the front door. Take a moment and remove the plywood there and you will find an addtional 4-5 cubic feet. I added a 2x4 cross support and made a new top access door for the back side. We put a plastic tub in there to store an extra sleeping bag for the grandsons when they visit....

Chiilen n grillen

The bay where the water filter resides will hold a Master Forge Stainless Steel Portable Gas grill from Lowes (Model #: TG2036701-MF) towards the front, and a DeLonghi TRN0812T Portable Oil-Filled Radiator with Programmable Timer
from Amazon on the tail side. There is 1/4 " clear around all. I made a wood base so I can use the original grill stand, the original grill just takes up to much room for me..... Did I metion I need the space for the ice maker in the rear bay? What mod next?

I've made many mods in the two years I've had my 2300. Some of them include:
Swivel seat base for passenger seat
Added XM radio to Magnadyne.
Added Wingman to Winegard antenna and then signal meter from Winegard.
Added American Flag to ladder (stores in rear bumper when traveling
Enlarged deck plate in sewer compartment to allow Rhinoflex hose connectors to fit (now standard on new ones I believe)
Replaced all interior lights with LEDs
Replaced all clearance lights with LEDs

I'll share more later.

What is the bulb for the clearance lights?

It is a 194 bulb. I replaced it with this one from superbrightleds.com

I used two different ones on the interior. I wanted some to be about as bright as the originals, and some to be a little dimmer. I thought the ones over the bed (both ceiling fixture and reading lights) were too bright. Also the ones over dinette. Over the sink and in the bathroom, I changed the fixtures for ones that had two switches--one for each side of the light. In one side, I put dimmer bulbs and in the other bright. In the bathroom, I turn on just the dim one at night, so when the wall switch is turned on in the middle of the night, you don't get blasted with so much light. Over the sink, the dim one makes a more pleasant nighttime light and the bright one is available for serious work like cooking or dishes.

These are the dimmer ones:

These are the brighter ones:

Both are warm white and I am very pleased with the color temperature and brightness. I ordered from superbrightleds.com. They are based in suburban St. Louis. I actually went and picked them up at the warehouse, but they ship most orders within two days--no long waits for orders from China, but still very reasonable prices. They offer advice both online chat and by phone if you are looking for something particular and can't figure it out from the website. (My only connection with them is as a satisfied customer).

I had done the same inside except did not think about dimmer LEDs. Great idea, especially over the bed. Thank you both. Great ideas all around.

2300

'09 2300 E450 bought it 2 years ago. Had 15m on it and steering was horrible.
Now have 31m and made some possitive improvements.

Alignment with Ingals 59400 bushings with +castor around +4.8 degrees. Search out "Harvard" on some of these forums, he has all the specs. Bilstein shocks and Bilstein steering damper. All this eliminated the wandering and frightful surprises from wind. Now you can "drive it like ya stole it".

5Star Tune. Just do it.

Fabricated a sewer hose compartment made of 5"x5" vinyl post cover from Home Depot. Attached it to rear bumper.

To me the driver's seat and pedal positions were very uncomfortable cutting off circulation in my legs. They really need a 6 way adjustable seat in these things. What helped me was a 2"x12"x15" board covered with carpet and placed on the floor raising my legs up off the edge of the seat. Also extended pedals 3/4" higher. Works OK.
