We're planning on ordering a new Sunseeker in the new year and I have a couple of questions.
1. Does the shorter wheelbase of the 2860 affect the handling adversely as compared to the 3010?
2. When do the new model years (2014) come out?
BTW, This forum and the participation of the factory reps played a big part in our decision to get a Sunseeker!
Both are on the 450 chassis. The 2860 is 30'9" long and has a 202" wheelbase, while the 3010 is 32'3" long and has a 220" wheelbase. That seems like a rather large difference in wheelbase for not a lot of difference in length. I was just wondering how it would affect handling, if any.

I can only go off of our Sunseeker, it measures 30' 3" bumper to bumper and has a 206" wheel base on a E450 chassis.
I think it handles great for a class c! I have air bags on the rear and an after market steering stabilizer up front. But even stock it drives like a Cadillac compared to the 350 chassis. You will always have semi and wind issues but with the 350 it was always white knuckle driving! In the 450 it's takes a lot to make me feel uncomfortable.
I doubt there will be a noticeable difference. The turning radius will be a little less. Get the layout you like best.
Concerning 2014s I believe they swap production over in April. With backlogs I would expect if you order much after the the 1st of the year you will will likely get a 2014.
I just received my new Sunseeker 2860. In general, a shorter wheel base will give more response when backing the unit for example, meaning the rear of the unit will turn quicker in whatever direction you want as the length of the unit is longer behind the rear wheels. Of course in the same vein, there will be a bit more tail swing when driving around sharp corners for example as there is more length beyond the rear wheels. Unless one is in tight situations, this shouldn't be a problem.
