3050s Inverter Installation

Has anyone installed an inverter in there 3050s? It is my next mod and I am looking for suggestions and/or pictures of actual installations. Already purchased the inverter. I was thinking of putting the inverter in the compartment under the water heater and running an AC line from the inverter to a dedicated outlet located in the wall that has the control center (on the left as you enter the rv). I only need one outlet. Ideally it would be on the kitchen backsplash but it is part of the slide and I don't want to deal with that headache. I will just use an extension cord. Don't plan to use it too much.

Well it is done. Inverter in compartment under water heater. Switch to turn inverter on and dedicated outlet inside coach for the wife to run small appliances. Just need a short extension cord to reach the kitchen counter.

I installed it to be able to make coffee, blend breakfast smoothies, and the wife can use the blow dryer. All before generator hours start at the state campground. Trying to be a considerate camper and have my luxuries.

You could have run it through a transfer switch on your main AC line to power all 110vac outlets. You would have to remember to not run your converter or A/C while on inverter though... or run it through a subpanel to only power what you want to on inverter.

Nice install though. Kudos!

I ran an inverter off the TV jack power which runs off the vehicle battery and it sounds an alarm when using anything goes that draws power like a hair dryer. The alarm is a low voltage on the input side. So the draw is pulling down the input under the minimum for the inverter. Any suggestions how to fix

Yeah I thought about doing that but this is not a pure sine inverter so I didn't want the wife or kids to try to run any expensive electronic devices and ruin them. This way I control the outlet.

You can't run a hair dryer from a cigarette lighter type outlet. The wires running to it are too small of a guage. I ran 0 gauge wire directly from the battery. Powers the wife's 1850 watt blow dryer beautifully.

You'll likely get more responses if you were to re-post this in a new thread.

At first I thought I was overloading the capacity but I used a volt meter on he incoming power and that is where the voltage was dropping

Just tapping into an existing 12v line is not sufficient to power a full size inverter. A: The wiring is not large enough to supply the high demands. B: It can cause a severe fire hazard if you attempt to do so.

I would start by going to the search box and entering "inverter install". There will be a number of threads addressing this issue.

From there, start a new thread and ask any questions that might still be unclear.

nice job. i added a digital voltage gauge just above the fuse box so i could monitor battery voltage. Question though, you must not be using the heater overnight as i would not have the voltage to even start the gennie in the morning?

I assume you mean an electric heater. Correct I don't use one unless I am hooked to shore power. If I need heat when I have no shore power I use the propane furnace. I keep it quite cool though, otherwise the blower on the furnace would probably kill the batteries.

no, not the electric heater. It wont work without the coach plugged or the genie on but the gas heat and blower will work on the batteries; but dont expect any juice left in the morning.
