? about 2011 model vs 2010

I thought we purchased a 2011 Sunseeker today. When we got home we found paper work stating the unit was put into service in CA in May of 2010. According to the Nada Guide the 2010 is 26 feet long and the 2011 is 27 feet long.

Is it possible that a 2011 could be put in service in 2010? We did not look at the title. I know we weren't on the ball there. What date determines the model engine? The Date the Ford Chassis was built? When the RV was completed? There was very little difference in the inside of the 2450.

Thanks

this is not unusual for rv. often a chassis is one or 2 years older than the rv build date. especially with the slow economy for rv's 2 years ago

Maybe I wasn't clear, my issue is that we were "sold" a 2011 Sunseeker that was registered and plated in May of 2010. When does a unit change from a 2011 model from a 2010 model?

Seems like this unit was used for 2 years and I thought the unit was 1 year old not 2 years

There are members here with 2013 units and some took delivery some months ago. Based on the actual built date of your unit might be older than you thought it is still considered a 2011 unit which will reflect in the value of the RV.

Based on posts regarding this topic I believe the year of the model changes sometime around Feb/March but I'm not 100% sure. Those with more knowledge will be better able to provide some answers to your question.

Take care,
Terier

PS
On the flip side there are units that were built the day before the year change and are considered a year older.

Model change happens closer to April/May. May of 2010, sounds like a 2011. Pretty common. You can find some 2013 cars right now too.
