About to buy 2018 2290SC

The one thing I’ve been reading about and dislike is the perceived downgrade in quality between the Sunseeker and Forester. Was the Sunseeker significantly less coach years ago vs today?

I see them as very equivelant save a few of the items mentioned earlier in this thread. Certainly not the Jayco Redhawk/Greyhawk difference.

I would think about how you plan on using the RV and get the Forester only if you plan on spending a whole lot of time in the RV, like full timing. The biggest difference is in the interior not in actual functionality. So if you need hidden hinges, cloth seating, faux wood dash, etc then get the Forester for much more money. Or you can do one of two things and buy the Sunseeker 1) just add the extras you like and/or 2) change some of it out yourself for a lot less.

The choice is over I’m picking it up on Saturday (I think). From what I can see on the 2017/2018 models there isn’t much difference that I’d care about. I’m just wondering if the differences were always so minimal to warrant the perception I’m reading about.

I wouldn't worry. The older RVs had more significant differences. Like the Forester use to have a fiberglass roof while the Sunseeker did not. Now they both have the preferable fiberglass roof.

Bottom line they are the same except for the interior for the most part. I'm guessing the people who think there's more differences haven't looked at the newer models.

I've always seen the difference as being "bling" for the most part.

Just avoiding that stupid Lippert control tablet, now used in Foresters, will keep me buying Sunseekers...

In the coach as I type, DW is in the left seat as we head back from the beach. We have been happy with the stock 4500 set up thus far so I can only imagine what new shocks woulld be like. As mentioed there is storage undrr the bed, we did a mod that gained about 6"h x 20"w x 30"l for shoes (in my pics).

Next up is to leave the simulators off for good and go with chevy hub covers.

And - apparently the shorter Chevy is a problematic install for the Big Foots. My dealer called Quadra and they told my dealer that installing these on a coach this short - they have no schematics for it and its basically a ‘see if you can get it to fit’ kind of thing.

Kudos to my dealer for not just slapping them on to get a sale. They would rather sell me the coach w/ manual stabilizers welded to the back or order a new one from the factory where FR can deal w/ getting it to work.

*I understand the manual stabs are not levelers. I’d have to bring a bunch of legos with me and level it like a travel trailer. Which isn’t really what my wife and I wanted*

So - now I have to figure out if I should order a new 2019 that would arrive in June, or get my dealer to make me a deal on the next size up 2420 they have on the lot (that has levelers).

Nothing is coming easy for me w/ this purchase *my blown up Camping World Forester deal*

You might be able to put a real squeeze on the dealer looking at the RVs like that. They'll want the immediate sale and not a promise to buy a year from now so you just might get a great price on the longer RV...

They said the new order would be in the beginning to the middle of June and it’d be a 2019.

It’s a blizzard in NJ right now and everybody that makes the decisions at the dealership left early - lets see what tomorrow brings.

After looking very carefully at the 2420 it came off our short list. The bed is just too close to the floor drop off on the right, or front if you prefer, side of the bed for my comfort. Especially at the corner of the bed. I can see being half awake and missing that mini ledge in the middle of the night. If there was more floor space around the bed the 2420 would have worked for us.

So instead we just ordered a 2500TSF this afternoon. Same exterior size as a 2420 but with a floor plan I'm more comfortable with...

If the price isn’t bad we’d have to look at that model anew. We only spent 15 minutes in it before we moved onto the smaller Chevy. We’d have to get thing parked out in the open, give it a good once over, and take it for a test drive before committing.

The 2500 is available with the Chevy chassis. But you can't get the "Trekker" front cap with the entertainment center with a Chevy though...

The longer ones are starting to get CCC limited, the E450 does give you more load. I was close to the vest before on RVs, the 2420 on the lot has 2900 pounds of CCC afforded to it. That’s 700 pounds better then my old Greyhawk so I know I can make that work.

CCC is a very valid concern... I can't believe some motor homes are sold with less than 1,000 pounds of CCC!

The third slide out in the 2500 floor plan takes the CCC down to 2,729 pounds, advertised, versus the 2,907 pounds, advertised, for the 2420. We'll still have enough usable CCC that we can afford to "lose" the 179 pounds for the 2500's floor plan.

Where are you finding the advertised CCC?

I like the 2500 floorplan (saw a Winnie in it) but if I’m looking to get a good deal I’m going to have to get what’s on the lot. And that’s the 2420.

This was supposed to be a layup - we were really looking forward to picking up ‘our camper’ this Saturday.

It is in the Sunseeker brochure. Each unit will vary, based on options, but that is FR's starting point for CCC.

We have made the 2500TS F work well for us,,, because the DW sleeps on the dinette bed,,, we would never again buy a RV that you could not get in & out of the bed on both sides !!! We also find the dinette not a very comfortable place to set & watch TV @ Night
I am an oversized old man and would love the cab space that is in the F series,
At our age we have what we have !!!

They're going to play ball on the 2420MS Ford. DW and I are going to look it over and test drive it on Saturday morning. So we'll see if we're ordering a 2019 2290SC w/ the levelers or taking this other rig (w/ factory levelers) off the lot.
