AC fan runs when furnace is on

Recently purchased a 2012 Sunseeker 2450 used. The AC fan runs when the furnace is on. Is that normal ? Also was trying to install a winterizing siphon antifreeze kit and theres not enough room next to the water pump for the fitting. Anyone have a solution to this ?

That is correct. Push the on-off button on thermostat to "fan". Then use + or - to change display to "au" (auto) instead of hi or lo. Return to furnace and furnace fan will run as needed but a/c fan will not.

Anywhere in the suction line enroute to the fresh water tank, that's accessible. Must valve off tank and open to AF to accomplish the task. Best way is 3 way valve. One twist accomplishes both. The AC fan operating is good for circ of the warm air, thats the reason for it.

Had a similar problem on my 3120. Inlet to the pump was right at an elbow. Installed the three way valve with the pump suction to the leg of the 3 way valve "T" and the anti freeze hose connection at the bottom. Had to file off the valve stop so it now rotates 180 degrees instead of just 90 to swap from normal to antifreeze bypass. Just a little pipe fitting work to plumb it up, new straight fitting to replace the elbow and shortening of the flex hose to get things to line up. If you like I may be able to get a photo.

Thanks! Y'all just saved me from digging out the manual on our maiden voyage. Dealer prep guy said to leave fan on high always.

Why did the the dealer prep guy say that? Sounds like a statement not based on fact.

Sounds like a "boondock" guy.

I have heard this is a technique to reduce start up amperage when running on the generator.

Since the compressor and the fan motor have peak amperage draws during startup that drop after the motors are on speed, a generator operating at the margins may not be able to handle starting the fan and the compressor concurrently.

I solved this problem by installing a fan delay relay allowing the compressor to start up first, followed 5 seconds later by the fan motor.

Just cut the fan wire coming from the thermostat and connect the ends to the two lugs on the relay. Do not cut the jumper and turn the dial all the way to the left (plus a smidge).

I had a control board replaced on the AC on my 2012 Sunseeker under warranty in 2013. Since then, the compressor starts first and then the fan (both AC and heat pump).

I love this forum. Have never needed the furnace before when plugged in. This morning I turned it on and had the same issue. Within minutes I had the solution simply by checking this forum. Thanks.
