Air Condition/Generator Problem

We have a new (2013) 3117 Sun Seeker purchased earlier this year. We were getting ready to go on weekend trip (after not using a couple of months), checked out generator, a/c, etc. The a/c would not come on using generator but would work using house power. Any ideas?
thanks,

Check your water heater AC switch. If it is on, you will exceed the amperage (start up) and the generator will not stay on line.

30amp breaker?

Sounds like the 30amp breaker on your generator is off or tripped off. Does the generator power any 110 volt outlets when on?

Thanks everyone for the speedy replies. Hopefully this hurricane/storm will hold off a few days and I can check these out. I will let everyone know the outcome.

Resolved AC issue

Thank you again to everyone that replied. Tim, you were correct it was the generator 30amp breaker was in the off position. Once I flipped it to on, started the generator, turned the a/c on - IT WORKED! So especially THANK YOU to you!

Hope everyone has a safe weekend and hopefully we will run across each other at one of these campgrounds in the future.

I use a plug-in style voltage monitor for my 110 volt power. It has an LED display that shows your volts and polarity. This is one of the first things I check if power goes out inside the RV.
