Another quick connect question

Just got a 2015 3170. I want to add a quick connect. Looking at the propane tank it looks like the regulator is mounted under a plastic cover in front of the tank. From there it goes into a hose which attaches to a gas pipe with a flare fitting?

I was thinking of taking the flare fitting off the pipe and putting a tee there. I would then reattach the flare fitting and add another flare fitting to feed a hose with a quick connect.

My question is what size is the pipe and flare fitting. I assume pipe is standard black pipe either half or 3/4.

Thanks

Should be 1/2" NPT. That's what mine are.

A better option would be to buy a kit that suits your needs. The kit would have all the correct fittings and hose(s). Camping World and other RV supply places sell a variety of them. I can send you links to some if you need them.

I was looking for kits but did not find what I was looking for. Could be I am looking for the wrong thing. If you have any links that would be great.

It looks like if I order what I need separately it will be right around $55.

Every RV parts supplier I have dealt with offers a line a LP parts and kits by Marshall Products. Here's a link to one supplier. You may be able to find what you need here. If you find what you need but have a preferred RV parts supplier, check for the items you need with them.

Thanks Rambler guy. Anyone know if the kit that allows you to add an external tank will fit on a 3170? Mine is in storage so I will take a look next time I am there. Looking at the kit below.

Takeiteasy I have the same kit on my 3051s and the only thing I found wrong with it is when you are on the external tank while using outside grill and inside stove the performance of the two cooking units is greatly reduced. And yes my tank was full.

I don't know about the ones you are looking at. I have an Extend-a-Stay to use a grill gas tank to supplement the coach tank.

Thanks jfrauts, I noticed they have two four port kits. Not sure what the difference is. It looks like the grill would need a regulator in this setup, is that correct?

If you don't run your grill through the MH's external grill connection then yes you will need a reg for the grill.

Some grills have the reg on it already. Have someone at the rv service store or parts store confirm what you are doing or this blow up in your face. Literally.

TakeItEasy; you may want to put some sort of support under the regulator (or at the end of reg where main feed line comes out) after looking at mine, I thought that the brass tube of the kit's valve looked like it may break in time with the regs weight and vibration going down the road. Something to think about

We do not do a grill mount. Although there is a wall mount bracket that ships with the grill (from the mfg) we do not use it. Instead we ship a folding bracket to set the grill on. Keeps it away from the coach just in case.

Regarding a support bracket, here's my Home Depot plumbing & hardware department solution before I reattached my regulator shields
