Another tire valve extender question

This is for a rear outer tire...

July 2013: I was having an air leak. Dealer said the original (from Forest River) tire valve extender had a crack so replaced it with a new one. All was good.

This spring: I got new tires thanks to the Michelin recall. The tire dealer re-installed all the extenders.

Last couple weeks: I am getting an air leak again. Same tire as before (but of course a new tire now). Same tire valve extender that was replaced a little over a year ago.

So, newer extender and tire - what is causing the air leak?

I removed the extender tonight to see if the air leak would go away but I have a couple questions in the meantime:

The extender is actually two parts. The curved part and then essentially a second extender it appears. Seems like more potential for problems. I think (???) the second extender may not have been screwed on tight to the curved part. Could that have been the source of the air leak (not sure if there is pressure there without the end being pushed in)?

A valve cap has never fit over the second extender - not sure if that's normal or not?

Pics attached - hopefully that helps show the replacement tire valve extender.

Yes that very well could have caused your leak. I had the same issue this summer and was able to have the mobile tire guy dismount the tire and replace the stem and extension.

They are a common problem. Very soon I plan to get some one piece metal stems installed and hopefully do away with the issue for good.

Easy test, spray all joints including the wheel thru piece with Windex. If you have a stem leak you'll see it.

I had one 90 degree that leaked air and I removed it
I will be installing the braided kit for all valves with wireless sensors
I have had two blow outs on a previous unit and it will make you want to sell the RV!!!!
Especially when you do $6000 damage and the unit is down for 6 weeks!!!

OP with an update - A week later & the tire (without the valve extender) is holding air just fine. So the problem is the valve extender. Trying to decide if I want to put the valve extender back on (tightening the two pieces more - not sure why there is a 2nd piece, basically an extender on an extender) or just pick up a new one on Amazon.

trdutch - Doesn't sound like fun. Good luck with your repair. I have read mixed reviews on the braided valve extenders for what it's worth.

I have too,but taking off the wheel covers to check and add air is becoming a giant pain
I can't even get a reverse tire gauge to work with the covers on and no valve extenders

I bought the Green Slime tire gauge with the extension for DRW. I'm now able to check the pressure w/o removing the wheel covers.

Great. Now I'll have 4tire gauges
But thanks for the heads up.
Oh and also it's not that taking off wheel covers is any big job but I have 16 other things to do before a trip and I try to keep it simple.
Removing wheel covers to check air pressure is not an approved procedure in my manual

Ok I looked up the Green Slime 2020a
It is basically the same one I already have
It's what I referred to as a reverse (dullie) guage
It won't work with my wheel covers on
I can't get a good seal cause the arm hits the wheel cover
Anyway thanks but it looks like valve extenders for me

Mine have two lugs that hold em on the rest are there for appearance. It takes about 30 seconds to get em off so it is not a big deal.

I have the same problem as the OP. my leak was coming out of the outer cap/extension on both outer rear tires. I found by loosing the outer cap/extension, the leak stopped...? Seems the cap, when tightened, pushes on the Schrader valve and leaks.
