another water filter question
I'm getting my 2014 Sunseeker 3010DS ready for it's maiden outing, and can't get the canister for water filter loose. I'm afraid I'll break the water line trying to get it loose, it's so tight. Any suggestions?

Have you tried a lid opener like that used to remove lids from jars?
This reminds me – I need to change my filter. If I run into problems removing the canister lid, I’ll let you know what I did. In fact, I’ll get the lid opener from the house kitchen just see if it fits.

Is the system pressurized? If so, turn the water off, open a faucet and turn on the water pump to reduce the pressure.
If the system isn't pressurized, are you using the canister wrench to loosen? As silly as it sounds, we often turn the wrong way on the canister. If you're facing the canister, are you turning it clockwise?

Use /look for the filter wrench that should be floating around in the bay with the filter.
Facing filter, slip the wrench so the handle is towards the lefthand side, push.
I get my filters from Amazon in 2-packs. They are regular 10" house filters.
If it breaks, you can replace it also with one from a home improvement store.

I use the rubber strap wrench and when I got my trailer the person that put the filter together was a gorilla but this did the job. And as was said they are at most local home improvement stores.

Richard, if you have a 2014, why are you changing
the filter so soon?

Yes- initial installation. I have a filter wrench, but it seems to just twist the water line trying to loosen. I'm thinking just forgetting about it and use a filter on the hose.

Always seems that way. Use your 2nd hand to steady the housing while applying the wrench on the cardrige, high up as possible. It's only plastic course thread, it will break free.

Having a fused hip and knee, I can't get back to the filter to hold it, need my second hand to keep from falling over. If it doesn't leak, I'll just leave it alone.

Also you can use a hair dryer and heat up the canister at the threads to expand and hopefully release.....

Make sure there is no presure on the filter. What we do is turn off the city water, make sure the pump is off, open faucet until water stops then the filter should come off. Any presure will make it hard and if city water or pump is on when you take it off you will have water spraying all over.

Mine is under the bed and I have given up on it too. It's hard to get to and always spills water, so I use a dual exterior filter system both to fill the tank and when directly connected to a water line.
