Any thoughts on this?

I had a rug there and have no idea what caused it. When I moved the rug, it pealed up.

Looks like a staple mark. Or maybe someone dropped something and it impaled the floor.

If it was me, i'd probably go to Home Depot and buy some non-sanded colored grout caulk in whatever color works best and fill it in

That is Vinyl flooring right?

Another thought is to visit an auto store for a vinyl seat rip repair kit.

Mix the colors till it looks right; then fill the depression.

You can buy a grout in caulking tube that's like caulking in a smooth or sandy finish at tile stores even a colored caulking easy fix

Fonzie is right on !!!
If you could not find the repair kit,,, caulk would probably work,,,
supper glue would keep it from getting any worse !!!
