We don't have an outside kitchen but our awning comes just to the right of the door. The door has a piston on the top that allows the door to open slowly and stay open. It also limits the opening of the door to 90 degrees or so and prevents it from hitting the awning arm. In other words, the door cannot open back against the coach. At first I thought I would not like this, but now I like it very much. The door opens easily and does not get away from you or bang back into you as you enter and exit. Likely what you are looking at has a similar setup.
