anyone know how to make a storm door

I would like to find a way to make a storm door for the screen door. In our previous camper we used plexiglass and mirror hangers to secure over the screen. However with the Sunseeker having curved edges at the top of the door we are not sure how to do this.. and where the middle slide (the handle) is what do you there? I have found that Joann's fabric store sells 20 gauge clear plastic on a roll which would work in a window screen frame but how would you make the curves? Thanks for all suggestions and help and if you want a project come on down to Georgia I would love the help

just score then gently cut the curves larger then needed and gently sand by hand until you get the desired curve. Ours cracked but a little super glue on it and it sealed up again. I used velcro to secure ours. Sure wish that they had clear velcro.

You can use automotive double stick tape. That is what I used on two campers and works great. Remove screen door and lay on sheet of Plexiglas. Mark the Plexiglas and cut with a metal cutting sabre saw blade and cut at slow speed. Apply the tape to the screen door and carefully lay on plexiglas Use a file or sandpaper to shape to the door frame. Be very careful, but looks great.

I used poster board to make a template. Then I bought the Lexan sheet at Lowes. For free Lowes will cut the sheet into squares that matched my dimensions. For the top piece that has curved corners, you just extend your measure as if the sides and top edges meet at square. I bought the $5 scoring tool. You lay your cardboard template on the top piece and use a felt tip marker to trace the left and right curves. Next just take your time and score along the trace curve. When you have a deep score, take pair of pliers and break off to get your custom curve. Sand for smothness if it feels rough.

On the inside of the screen door of our Wildcat is an additional track around the perimeter. I cut 2 pieces (1 each for the upper and lower opening) of Lexan slightly smaller than the width of the door. I used lexan because it is almost impossible to break. I then just bow the lexan and place it in the tracks. Then I put screen piping in the track to hold the pieces in snuggly. Works great.

Used lexan with Velcro to hold it in place. This way I can remove it if wanted.

RV.Net Open Roads Forum: Lexan Screen Door Panel Mod 101 (Lots of pics and long) This is a link to a thread that includes a lengthy dialog with plenty of pictures. I used this to do mine, except I just had Lowe's do the cuts for me for free.
