Yes it will fit the opening but not cover custom paint completely
I ordered and received one from Amazon.com today and am sending it back tomorrow. While it is an easy swap and you may not even have to swap out the striker, I was having a tough time programming and operating the unit that was sent to me.
AP has partnered with a tech company who has provided them with a touch keypad. I am not sure if the problem was my old dry fingers or the keypad itself but the buttons would not light up every time I touched them and therefore the lock would not open.
Programming your own 4 digit code needs to be done each time you swap out the batteries and could require one of four different procedures and they may not be the same each time. ( I called tech support three times before I finally managed to program the lock the first time. Then when I tried to program it again a couple hours later, I failed so miserably that I uninstalled it and reinstalled the existing Trimark lock.
Maybe it's the fact that I am getting old and my hearing going but it was pretty much impossible to hear the beeps telling you it can be programmed. Sometimes I would hear them and sometimes not.
Be forewarned that if you decide to purchase one that the electric key pad lock only locks the deadbolt. there is no way to lock the handle latch.
If you have a custom paint job, this unit is tapered and does not have the same foot print as the Trimark lock.
Maybe I had a bad unit or maybe I am not as tech savvy as I thought.
Hope this helps
