Auxiliary Braking

Is anyone using an auxiliary braking system like BrakeBuddy? If so, what are you using and why do you like/dislike it?

Patriot

Patriot and like it. I really like the remote gain control in the cab. you need 12volt to run it. I keep power to the toad battery from the coach so I dont rely on the internal battery....

I also use the Patriot and works well for us. Very easy to use. I haven't needed to run power from the coach to the toad. We usually run 7-8 hours a day and never had a power issue with the toad. We also use the wireless TowMate TM3 lights.... super quick and easy to setup.

I like Ready Brut tow bar with integrated surge brake system. Simple system and no electrics to worry about.

We have a Patriot and like it. The car battery will run it two and a half days. Used a booster battery for the last half day.

Rarely get false applications, usually when going over rough railroad crossings.

ATVer just watched that video looks like good unit, only question I have is on a vacuum assist brake system of your towed vehicle after one or two applications it becomes REAL!! hard to apply brakes, will that cable still apply with enough force to apply brakes in towed vehicle ?

Brake buddy and a patriot

I also use the other kind of brake buddy. This is about the size of a match box. It allows coach power in, but will not allow power to go from the toad to the coach.... This keep the toad topped off.

I use the Patriot and so far it has been flawless! Works great with the gain control and keep the toad battery charged with a small charger powered by the RV. You can run the Patriot over a day and a half on its own external battery before charging. I added a extra fused power adapter that's wired directly to the battery when I want to charge it or just leave it plugged in all the time.
