Awning question

We have just purchased a 2010 2940DS. Because of the dual slides the awning comes out but not down very far. We are considering adding a patty-O-shade and wondered if anyone has one and what your likes and dislikes might be. Thanks Ron

I am not sure what that is. Is it like walls for your awning or is it like those 10x10 first up awning?

They attach to the front of your Awning and hang down for additional shade. I saw them on the camping world web site.

We have one and like it. The shade will keep the sun off of you. We do not use it at our present site because the awning side of the trailer is facing east and we do not get the afternoon sun. I do not keep my slide out when it is not beening used. I have seen too many awnings damaged by wind and rain. It is not worth the risk of lossing the awning for the sake of a few minutes of work to put the awning away.

We have an awning shade and we like it a lot. My wife likes it because it gives shade and it gives a little extra privacy around the entry door. That way she can sit and watch everyone without them being able to see her doing it. Hopefully she won't read this.

Do you find them difficult to put on, or will they roll up with your awning?

Mine is extremely easy to put on and take off. It has a rubber spline on the end that you insert in the groove in the roller and pull it across. Bungee cords hooked to the grommets and tent stakes and you are done.

Mine will roll up in the awning, but it makes the awning stand too far out from the camper so we don't do that when we leave camp. Certainly you can roll it up in the awning while at the site.

I had not thought of a shade screen on the slide out awning - sounds like a good idea to keep the heat out (and prying eyes).

I'm wanting to make a shade screen for the outside of the front windshield. I'm thinking magnets to hold it in place.

If you roll it up into the awning the grommets might cause rust marks on the awning material.
