Back-up Light Weep Holes

Does anyone know what the "Weep Holes" are for on the back-up and brake light LED Module assemblies?

The light fixtures have been known to leak as the sealants / gaskets age. The weep holes acts as drains and will hopefully keep your lights from filling with water.

I've seen pictures of tail light fixtures that could double as fish bowls...especially when the lenses were installed upside down!

After 60 years in various electronic and mechanical fields I still believe that LED electronics and H2O don't mix.

It is amazing that FR cannot engineer a BU and Tail light assy that is a sealed unit, or at least gasket-ed???

You are right about that. I replaced the incandescent bulbs in the clearance lights on an old Scotty trailer to reduce amp pull. I was careful to seal them with silicone around the lens and where the fixture was attached. They looked and worked great until the first bad storm. All of them stopped working, evidently just from the slight interior condensation. [emoji45]
