Backing straight back has never been a worry because in unfamiliar (campsite) situations my Wife is guide and visible in the mirror
In familiar places like the storage farm and my home the grid works just fine because I've physically got out and measured and compared the grid to a tape on a soft obstacle (cone)
My biggest concern is upper corner clearance when turning away from a structure (gas station pump roof or barn) and the kick out with 31 feet of length
