Bypass for hot water

Welcome to the forum. My experience the bypass is located behind the HW tank; 3 valves, one on the cold supply line, one on the hot return line, and one between. To bypass you close the supply and return valves, and open the one between, which bypasses the HW tank.

On a 06 Sunseeker it's just one valve. Not sure if it stayed the same for 08.

Yes. My water heater is close to the kitchen sink so my valve is in the cabinet under the sink.

There are three valves for the bypass. One is cold water into the heater, one is hot water out of the heater, and one is the bypass. Closing the inlet and outlet valves and opening the bypass valve allows you to pump RV antifreeze through the hot water system without putting any in the water heater.

There is only one on a Sunseeker, at least the 04 thru 06.
I'm just not sure if that carried through to 08

The photo I posted shows the valve arrangement on our 2011 Sunseeker.

I'm puzzled by the single three-way valve that Motocross posted. Does the tee on the hot water outlet line have a check valve in it? If not, then water and/or antifreeze would enter the water heater through the hot water outlet.

The single valve system has a brass check valve at the hot water outlet that prevents the pink from entering the hot water tank.

Turning the valve handle so it points UP will divert the incoming liquid into the vertical bypass pipe and isolate the tank.

The 3 valve system requires closing (turn 90 degrees in either direction) the top and bottom valves and open the bypass valve in the vertical pipe.

Like Herk said, to bypass it should point up. If you can zoom in in my picture I have it wrote in marker.
