Cooking in the oven

I have a 2014 Sunseeker and I was wondering if anyone else was having problems cooking in the oven. I've used it four times and each time I've burned the food. Just thinking that since the oven space is smaller it heats up too much. Next time I will take out what I'm cooking 10 minutes early. Any feedback would be helpful and happy travels to everyone.

You have to cut times down and really watch the food. Raw chicken takes less time because the oven is so much smaller than the home oven.

Wrapping the outside (yes outside) of the pan with aluminum foil will also help. Especially when baking.

Thanks for the response. I was thinking I needed to cut down the time. I know when I baked some biscuits I checked a couple minutes before they were ready and they were burned.

The foil on the outside of the pan really helps for biscuits!

Foil on the outside of the pan works as does using a pizza stone on the rack. Another thing that has worked when I bake cinnabuns is placing the pan of cinnabuns on top of an upside down disposable round pie tin.

A pizza stone makes a huge difference in more even heat.

For pans of cinnamon rolls, my wife used disposable pans and put parchment paper on the bottom of them before she added the raw cinnamon rolls. They were literally the best she's ever made (and it's a 10+ year Christmas morning tradition for us).

She also made filling balls (aka stuffing) on Christmas Day and again, they were AWESOME! The pizza stone really helps.

very very common problem when cooking with RV oven.

1) The bottoms of the biscuits will cook (burn) faster, so use a cooking stone.

2) The dear wife enjoys cooking the biscuits "on top of the stove", in a little butter. Cook one side, flip over and cook the other side. The biscuit will 'rise' and they are perfect.

many RV owners use a pizza stone or a ceramic tile in their ovens.

Rumor has it you should always use unglazed tile. Something about lead in the glazing. I'm looking for some ordinary unglazed terra-cotta tiles like they used to make floors out of.

I think pizza stones are afraid of me. I can never find one. They must be hiding.

Cooking in RV oven

I went to home depot and got a 12" cermac tile and it solved my problem. Costs a lot less than a pizza stone. Someone said theirs broke but it would not have been from the heat. They are fired much hotter than the oven ever thinks about getting. I just leave mine in the oven all the time. Fits the bottom of my oven pretty well. I just cook how ever long the instructions say.

Cooking in the oven

Yes - burning on the bottom of biscuits or anything like that, always happens. I buy a Oven Thermometer so I can see if 350 is REALLY 350!! It usually is. Thank you for the idea of the pizza stone. I have 2 of them at home because I think I bought one at a Pampered Chef party not remembering I already bought one. Now I know where I can put it - in the 5th Wheel These Forums are great!!

We also for the last 7 years have used just a plain old ceramic tile from Home Depot. Another great benefit is it dissipates the heat more evenly inside the RV oven. No more burnt corners etc....

Happy trails,
