Yes, de-winterize after you clear into good weather. Bring gallon jugs of water for cooking etc.

We left Whiting, NJ, last Feb.1st. We were luck weather wise. Snowed two days before we left and again the day after we left. I had +/- 1/2 tank of fresh water but I didn't de-winterize until our first stop at Emporia Va. A few gallon jugs of water took care of coffee and flush for toilet. This year we plan on leaving 12-28, weather permitting, plan in doing a repeat water wise.
Safe trip and enjoy Wally World.

Ramblerguy,
That set up will work well. Last night I broke down and ordered a 3 sensor unit from AcuRite. DoctorT68 two these will be zip tied in each of the rear bays. Right rear where the water tank is and left rear where the dump valves are at. It cost me 64.99 with a color display and temp alarms, and everything is AA battery operated. Nice peace of mind..
Going down the road if you get a cold temp reading close to 32 just flush and wash up with hot water.... then run the heat for a while.

I was just thinking about that. I know when I'm freezing, but what do I do about it?! LOL!
Awesome discussion everyone. Keep the advice coming. I know I'm soaking it up, and will use all of it, and I'm sure others are as well.
Thanks a ton!

Not a problem while you are driving from all the heat put out by engine, trans, and exhaust. When you stop just run house heat. I had mine parked for the month of Jan this year, not winterized, kept the heat at 45. Nothing froze.

X2 - I'm leaving Maine Saturday and this is the way I'm going. A few traffic lights on 301 but it's no where near as aggravating as dealing with the Baltimore and DC traffic.

That's what I'm thinking. I'll go ahead and buy the temperature sensors and just de-winterize before I go, and re-winterize the second I get back. I'll be running the heat as long as it's cold because I can't have my family frozen. . .

DoctorT68, doesn't look like you will need to be winterized to leave. Have a safe trip. We head out the first of the year. I am between exit 5&4 of the NJTP. Feel free to say Hi!

Wow, you took a hell of a risk. I just took my RV to have it winterized and he had a Class A on the lot that had a freeze and subsequent leak. He said so far it's been 8000.00 to find the leak and he wasn't sure if they were done yet!

DoctorT68,
Do you keep the coach at home and powered up or at remote storage?

I put 305 watts solar on the roof with 2 of the biggest AGM bats that would fit in the step. Full propane, heat @ 45 degrees, it will last 4 weeks and no freeze-ups.

I keep it home and could plug it in, but I don't. Why?

That's really neat. Every time someone tells me something like this I end up wanting to spend money!

You and me both. Neat thing about the panels, last year going to Florida, we stayed one night in a Virginia rest stop. The lights were the old style and made the panels work. Had heat all night and didn't kill the bats!

We keep ours powered up. Consider an oil filled heater to keep the coach interior
warm(er). I think it is easier on the coach to not allow the interior to go frigid, as a side benefit we do not unload the coach except for frig and bread items. The heater I use fits in the right rear bay during traveling so we rarely use the LP except for the frig on the road...
