Should the fridge operate with ONLY shoreline power?

No it should operate on propane as well.

I guess I need to rephrase the question....Will it operate (gas or shoreline) without the house battery turned on?

No. You need to have the house battery on because the Fridg needs 12 volt.

The refrigerator will operate when on shore power or when the generator is running and the house batteries are off if the convertor is working. The convertor will supply 12 volts to the coach.

The fridge control board needs 12V to power the control board. That 12V can come from battery or 110V AC supplied to the RV converter. This is the case for both electric or propane.

If I'm on shore power and I have my battery disconnect off, the fridg will not work. Even on propane, it needs to see 12 volts from the batteries. Is this not the case with most coaches?

Most coaches when, on shore power, get the 12 volt power from the converter even if the battery disconnect is open (off).
Does other 12 volt items operate when on shore power with the disconnect open?

The fridge seems to be working...at least it's maintaining a consistent temperature on shoreline only. The reason I have the battery turned off is because of a defective module that keeps battery charged. I was told to pull that module off the circuit board by FR. The battery monitor is showing full charge.

This sheds a little light on the subject. Depending on how it's wired, by pulling the charge module off the converter you could be disconnecting the 12 volt power to the fridge when on battery power. I agree that it would be weird, but I've seen some weird things in RV's before.

The module came off the circuit board in Battery Control Center. I haven't touched the converter in the rear of the unit.

Newbie here, prepping for the next trip in two days, swung by the storage lot, topped off air in the tires, turned on the propane, put the fridge on auto so it would be ready for groceries the next day, then..... turned off the battery switch on my way out.... doh! When we went to load the freezer today, had a moment of that sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, considering a two week trip using wet ice, then sigh of relief when I realized what I had done. Oh well. Live and learn.
